FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Bournemouth is a very nice town with beautiful sandy beaches. There is plenty of choices for lunch and dinner. It is a bit out-of-date and looks like its glory days are gone though, as there were many closed shops at the city centre and the feeling was it looked a bit sad and abandoned.

We had a great stay at The Hedley Townhouse. The hotel is spotless, nicely decorated and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The owners are super friendly and caring for their guests. They put breakfast items in the tea room in the morning, which was very nice before starting the day exploring the area. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the beach in a quiet area with dining options around. It was a great experience all around and we would stay there again if coming back to Bournemouth!

Ged and Jane were very welcoming. They put Easter chocolate eggs on the bed for us, which was a really nice touch. -The room was exactly like the pictures! It was the cleanest room I've been in a bed& breakfast/hotel in the UK. The room was on the top floor, so it can be quite warm in the from time to time, but there is an air-conditioning unit! -Breakfast was lovely! -Locationwise, it's 5min walk from the Bournemouth train station. It takes something like 20-30min to walk to the city centre.

The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The location was perfect. It was a small walk to the pier and the beautiful beach. Restaurants were also a walk, but we used taxis. The pool was AMAZING! It was heated and clean. It was open until 8pm. We had lunch on the pool veranda and it was a bit pricey but very nice. The Bournemouth air show was on so we watched that from our sunbeds! The hotel had a nice warm friendly feeling. We really enjoyed our stay!

Sue, the proprietor was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I needed Oat Milk and it was supplied. The breakfast was the best we have ever had. The choice was Continental, Full English or both, top quality. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with ensuite facilities. There was off road parking available. We spent 3 nights at this hotel with family and celebrated a 40th Birthday. We couldn't fault the hotel or the staff who were very helpful. The buffet style breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice and all items seemed to be replenished regularly. The hotel is ideally located for the beaches, the town centre and the cliff walks. I am sure we will return to Bournemouth in the near future and we would certainly recommend staying at the Durley Dean Hotel
