Really friendly welcoming hosts, quirky, comfy and exceptionally homely property, great facilities (bathroom, parking, ample space), nice and warm from a chilly evening, and a very comfy bed. Breakfast (£10 a head) was excellent value, scrummy and hearty enough to see us over the crossing to Islay.

Tarbert is a nice place, Knap house spoilt it for us, the room and bathroom were ok, but there was no cleaning of room, no automatic cleaning of room, regardless of how long you stayed your room was only cleaned when you left. There was half a toilet roll in the bathroom which had obviously been used by someone else.

A lovely place, a lovely area.
A lovely place, a lovely area. Great service and food options from The Deli, overlooking the harbour. The evening meal at The Starfish was ok, but the organisation, attention to detail and service wasn’t ok.

Tarbert is a lovely little town with plenty of shops for food and other supplies, without being a busy shopping centre. There are great walks around the area, and if you can travel a bit there are loads of places to visit, or you could just sit and watch the world go by in the harbour!

Eating out in Tarbert can be a problem early in the week.
Eating out in Tarbert can be a problem early in the week. There is a limited choice at the best of times, but most places seem to be closed on a Tuesday (and maybe some other days as well).
A tour of Tarbert itself only takes half an hour or less, but it is in an attractive setting. I suggest you pass through in the daytime, have a coffee in Cafe Ca'Dora, buy local whisky from the specialist local seller, and move on.
We came to Tarbert with our dog to start walking the Kintyre Way. Fortunate enough we found "Starfish Rooms" for the first night. Prime location close to harbour and just next to lots of Restaurants. Small but nice room in a converted old building, partially visible natural stone walls. Personal welcome by owner with plenty of advise and tips. Easy parking. There are several choices to have breakfast next to this accommodation (Room only)
We stayed in the Chieftain suite which was lovely. Decor was a combination of very comfortable and wonderful decor from around the world.
Bed very comfy as was the living area.
Superb view over Tarbert harbour and great restaurants all round but book ahead.
We loved our stay and were sad to leave .
Breakfast currently served to your room which was also very nice.
A gem of a place in Tarbert; the hosts Mark and Aby are friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was excellent. Very welcome touch of packed sandwiches, fruit and yoghurt left for us when we had an early ferry to catch. The B&B is well-located on the harbour, with easy walk to restaurants and shops. Mark's recommended chip shop in Oban was also excellent!
Breakfast was excellent. Peter makes homemade bread and great porridge and coffee.
The views are fabulous of Loch Fyne and the rock and spring landscape in front of the house are spectacular and unique. Tarbert is a beautiful town, very picturesque. Enjoyed a drive down to Skipness and the old castle there.
Peter and Louise were very gracious hosts.
Large clean room with a small fridge, sitting area and satellite TV. Free parking outside was a bonus and there are nice views over the small harbour. Although our private bathroom was located outside, but near, the room, it was large with a walk in shower and plenty of hot water and very clean. A good budget hotel room.
Wonderful, quiet location down a long drive before you get to Tarbert. Instructions left inside directed us to the woodland walking path to Tarbert. A very pretty walk. Informative information on where to park and eggs for sale. Comfortable accommodations with plenty of room for the three of us.
good place to stay before the first ferry to Islay - only a few minutes drive. dinner and breakfast were very good. single room had a nice view over the harbor. parking is usually available right across the street. Tarbert has some nice shops and a Co-opfor supplies.
Nice, clean and comfy room with beautiful view of the harbour. The owner was there to greet us on arrival. Perfect place for visiting the beautiful Tarbert castle and transiting to the Kennacraig ferry (only a 15-minutes bus ride away).
Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Room was great and ideal location. Suite on top floor was ideal for our needs and enjoyed beers and chat in the hotel bar. Will be staying in The Frigate Hotel anytime we’re in Tarbet.
the location , overlooking the fishing boats heading back to the harbour, a stones throw from both the Portavadie ferry in one direction and into Tarbert Main Street in the other.
Location in Tarbet was perfect for our overnight stay before the ferry. Room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Had nice bathroom and good views over the harbour.
Spacious, comfortable accommodation in a peaceful location with access to Stonefield Castle grounds for forest and shoreline walks. Dogs were very happy!
