I loved Alte Kalkoefen! The sleeping lodges were beautiful and overlooked the savannah with constant wildlife moving through. The food was also great, I would absolutely recommend signing up for dinner and breakfast while staying here, relaxing at this lodge was a highlight of my trip!

We stayed for 2 nights and just loved it. The lodge appears to be pretty new. The rooms are tastefully furnished in a modern style with everything you need, incl. a fridge. Nice terrace for watching the animals, comfortable beds and excellent food at a very reasonable price. We had breakfast & dinner twice and it was really very good. The lion tracking tour lasted for more than 3,5hours as it was difficult to find the lions. We saw 3 females and 1 male, it was worth it! Best out of 16 accommodations on our trip, highly recommended!

The location was perfect for us to visit the Kgalagadi TNP as day visitors every day via the Mata Mata border post. The accommodation was fantastic: clean, well-equipped and with amazing views of the wildlife along the dry riverbed. Jaco was a gracious host, looking after us carefully, and Mariam & Sonnety kept us well fed with delicious food. Thanks to them and the team. All in all excellent hosts that really added to the experience - we’re counting down the months until we can return!
