This is the first time in many years that I can say I loved everything: location, food, room and above all the people. They are kind, friendly and keen to look after you. As this was my solo trip abd without car, I was apprenhensive that I may not be able to see things around. But Andrea made sure I do. Wilma took me to Eshaness and Stenness in her car and oh, what a place. Breathtaking. We also went to the fire festival which was held for the Tall ships race and experienced the Vikings in full swing. Shetland and mote specifically St. Magnus made my stay worthwhile. Thank you so much.

Busta House er smukt beliggende med udsigt ud over kysten ved Busta Voe på Shetlands-øernes hovedø. Really comfortable, lovely surroundings and great food.

This grand beautiful historic building is being renovated by the present owners. I had a room with a sea view which was magnificent. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I loved the towel warmer and excellent water pressure in the shower. The staff were amazing. Sam, the owner’s son, went above the call of duty to provide towels and vacuum the sand I tracked into the room. Harvey, the owner, was fantastic! He even gave me a ride to the bus station. If you are interested in historic preservation this is the hotel for you. It sits actually into the sea next to Bain’s Beach. I had a fabulous week at the Queens Hotel.

The Grand Hotel ligger i Lerwick i en bygning fra det 19. århundrede, 300 m fra Bain's Beach, og tilbyder værelser med gratis wi-fi. Hotellet har familieværelser. I loved my stay here. My room (324) was just the right size, en suite and located in a quiet wing. The furnishings and whole vibe of the place is Boho/shabby chic. I mean this in a good way. The ambience is laidback, friendly, uncomplicated. One could be extremely picky about some flaws and details in the decor or upkeep of the place, but it was clean, comfortable and not only nice staff but nice clientele as well. I would have stayed there on my return trip, but had private arrangements instead. However, I would definitely go back. The girls serving in the bar, the kind man who made generous breakfasts, and particularly Harvey the owner, were all lovely people. The hotel‘s in a great central location, there are cheaper places to stay, but none with the same vibes or funkiness.
