Hotel in Werfen
Der Burgblick-Adults Only in Werfen is located 1.2 mi from Eisriesenwelt Werfen. It offers great views of Hohenwerfen Castle, which is just 1640 feet away. We reached the place by car, near the place there are signs along the road. There is parking next to the house. Check in was quick and friendly. We got a bigger room than the one we booked, with a balcony. The view from the window and balcony is great, of snowy mountain peaks and right in front of the castle. In a room that was brilliant, every detail was meticulous. The shower is spacious, there is hot water all the time, the current is strong, everything is in order and nothing is missing. The breakfast is rich, everything is fresh and delicious. We enjoyed sitting in the dining room facing the view so much, that we continued to sit and drink coffee leisurely, even after we finished eating. The way to the ice cave took us 8 minutes. The drive to the castle is also very fast. The owner is kind and generous. It turns out that the score we give the place is 10, but of all the places that have ever received a 10 from us, this is probably the place that deserves it the most. I would suggest Booking to change the rating and allow in this case to give it 11 out of 10. We really liked it!

The best is to buy a Salzburg card. We bought the 48 hours Salzburg card. It is the best card. Buy it at the train station or at your hotel. It covers all bus, trams, cable car up to Mt. Untersberg, entrance to most or all sights such as Mozart home, boat ride, etc.
Austria (especially Salzburg and Vienna) is an ideal country for a classical music lover. Even Salzburg is the Mozart and the Sound of Music city, it also offers stunning scenic views. We got the best city and scenic view from the top of the Hohensalburg castle. There are buses/trams but you will be enjoyed exploring the city by walk. It is an ideal romantic city to visit if you like music, nature, castle and such but not for a shopper and a nightlife (it is really quiet at night). After visiting the old town (which is like a city center here), the castle, and Mozart's residence (and/or Mozart's birthplace), Mirabell Palace, I would highly recommend you to still stay in Salzburg and take a one-day-trip train to Hallstatt and/or Obertraun (could go there by bus from Hallstatt). It is easy to go and it is much cheaper to stay in Salzburg (not only in term of hotels but also in term of great food). Also, local authentic Salzburg restaurants are unique and tasty. And I believe you could not probably get some menus and tastes in Vienna. We stayed near Salzburg train station. We think it is the best location to stay because it is an only 20-min walk to the old town, easy to get to other nearby cities, proximity to a variety of cafes/restaurants, close to late-night supermarket and such. There are direct buses/trams from/to the airport.
Everything! Beautiful architecture, wonderful concerts, variety of restaurants& cafes in all price ranges, delicious food. It’s a perfect city for walking and is very charming. Everyone we met was polite and gracious. Salzburg is a must for music lovers. I definitely plan to stay there again.
This was my first trip to Austria, and Salzburg really captured my heart! The Sound of Music tour is a must-do, as is a visit to the Hohensalzburg Fortress. There are so many amazing restaurants, and things to see just walking around old town. I plan to return in the future!
Everyone who knows the Sound of Music will be familiar with Salzburg, but the appeal for us was the historic buildings, alleyways and relative proximity between the famous sites. The locals too displayed genuine warmth and made us feel really welcome. Given the shortness of our stay we were only able to take in a portion of the sites, but we were certainly not disappointed with what we did see, taking in both Mozart’s birth place and his residence. A chief highlight for us was attending an evening concert performance by a local chamber ensemble who treated us to flawless performances of Mozart, Mahler and Brahms at the stately Mirabell Palace.
The local people in Salzburg are very friendly. They always wish us with a smile. The city is amazing, with lots of attractions. Stiegl brauwelt, the cable car and the Dom are must visit places.
Too many visitors the end of May..we prefer shoulder seasons in order to avoid all the crowds, howvere wonder if Salzburg and travel in general is now too popular to ever avoid crowds in those “must see” areas.
Many attraction to visit. Due to insufficient time, i only managed to visit (1) fortress on top of mountain; (2) hellbrune palace(must do tour for "tricky fountain"; (3) mirabelle garden. Must get "salzburg card" that ables you to go on all transportation & attractions!!! Totally worth it!
Salzburg is an excellent city to visit, I would suggest getting a Salzburg card. I have to come back because I didn't get to see everything that I was interested in.
Very nice small city. Must see fortress and museums. Try restaurant in Hohensalzburg fortress can see the view of city from up and tasty food also. Easy transportation but waiting quite long maybe because its small town with few people.
Very nice family-owned hotel in Wals on the outskirts of Salzburg. Quiet neighbourhood. Hotel itself was very traditional, staff helpful and friendly and spoke English. The room was spacious on the 3. floor, but no aircon. Beds were very good and bathroom nice and modern. Breakfast was fantastic with everything - even an omelet station with a chef cooking your omelet to order with your selection of toppings. Evening meal in the restaurant was also lovely and well priced, with local ingredients. All in all a very nice 3-day stay.
The location is very good if you want to experience life in Salzburg, not a touristy place. This is a very Austrian hotel that has the old keys, but it does have a lift! The value is great, especially if you want to experience the Christmas Markets and walk to the city center, not far at all. Garage parking is very close and inexpensive because the hotel gives you a discount. There are several very good, local restaurants nearby and they're not overrun by tourists. I've stayed here several times over the years.
We booked this location at the last minute for an overnight stay in Salzburg and it was exactly what we needed. Inexpensive, clean, conveniently located, and easy to check-in and check-out. As a bonus, though it was very small, it was well designed and perfect for our needs. Our room had a comprehensive book with recommendations for dining, sightseeing, etc. The breakfast place that was recommended was just around the corner, and it was excellent. I will be recommending the Hotel Modus to our friends and family.
Check in and Check out was quick, the reception staff were friendly and helpful, they even provided me with a Salzburg Card to be able to attain quick access to all the attractions and museums without needing to wait in queue. The Hotel was in a a great location just 15 min walk to the city center and old town. The food for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were delicious and the beds were very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and if i were to re-visit Salzburg again I would stay here.
Flachau
Flachao is a great location for travelling on Salzburg area spots and APART JASMIN is the place to stay at! Apart Jasmin is a well located apartment within Flachao - everything is within reach I really liked the following: 1. Highly facilitated 2. Very clean 3. Very good internet connection 4. Location is great 5. Apartment has 2 bedrooms with shower/toilet on each 6. Jasmin (the host) was highly available and assisted on every question/need we had.
Everything was just perfect. The hotel is beautiful and super clean, it has restaurant wich food is delicious, our room was big and had balcony with stunning view on the mountains. Hotel Grünauerhof is just in a couple kilometers from Salzburg and it has a lot of parking places if you are travelling by car. The place has very nice vibe and the personnel is very competent and friendly. A great hotel overall in a superb location we would definitely return here
Location perfect. Views stunning. Short walk into St. Gilgen. Easy road access to Salzburg and Salzkammergut. Breakfast buffet exceptional. Room very spacious. Hotel throughout very clean. Had a few dinners during stay and quality excellent. Most impressive thing about our stay was the service provided by Mark, who seemed to have a wide range of responsibilities but fulfilled them all with politeness and a smile. Best asset of the hotel.
Bischofshofen
The host is absolutely wonderful, unwordly helpful, extremely polite. Apartment was perfectly clean, very comfy, fully equipped. The location is extraorindary, with amazing views, and easy to access by car. Ideal location for sightseeing various acctrations in whole Salzburg county. We absolutely loved the stay there and would highly recommend to everyone! If I ever visit this region again, I will definitely choose this place to stay in.
Kuchl
Lovely Austrian countryside in the midst of Alps foothills. Apartment is very spacious, clean and perfect for family. You have everything you need and kitchen is fully equipped-with plates, pots, glasses for wine, coffee and etc. 30 mins from Salzburg and 10 mins from hallein. Marienne was a great host and was very helpful, prepared everything. There are few grocery stores in kuchl center, a big interspar in hallein. Highly Recommend!
Sankt Gilgen
Such a divine place - I wish we could stay longer, just to enjoy more the beautiful scenery and country peace! Lake with a mountain view is just nearby. Most of the area near the lake is private, but we found a nice spot where we could have a picnic. Great base for atractions around - Salzburg, Dachstein etc. Apartment was sparkling clean and we had everything we needed. Owners are really nice and friendly people.
We spent a night in this hotel after exploring Salzburg and before going to Vienna the next day. It was right during the heavy snowfall that made our stay even more remarkable as the hotel and surroundings looked like a winter Christmas fairytale. Hotel restaurant is worth to mention with typical Austrian dishes (schnitzel and tafelspitz were really good), friendly atmosphere and professional staff.
The location of the hotel is perfect, as you are in the city centre and you can walk everywhere. The staff was very nice and helpful. Hotel room was very clean and cosy, towels were changed every day. It is a quiet area if you want to relax. We also liked very much the blinds on the window. Breakfast was rich and tasty. Salzburg is a beautiful town with many attractions, so it's worth visiting.
"Location is everything", and this Hotel is a 10, just a fine minute drive to Salzburg and a little over 10 to nearby Germany. Gas station and restaurants all within walking distance. Plentiful buffet full of fresh goodies and very gracious staff welcome you to breakfast. I personally greatly appreciated their attention to detail acknowledging my birthday with a wonderful gift bag!
We love Hotel Peter, we've stayed before and the rooms overlooking the lake have stunning views. Rooms are comfortable and clean, hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for visiting local shops and restaurants in St Wolfgang and also trips across the lake to Strobhl, St Gilgen and also further afield to Salzburg.
Hotel has great location. Hosts and all the staff members are very friendly and accommodating. Cleanliness is spotless. Rooms are big, beds are comfy. Breakfast is more than sufficient. Even if you like to spend day or two not skiing you have options: Therme (10 min), walk in the nature, easy trip to Salzburg (train station 15 min away).
Good location, Salzburg is a small city, so you can walk to most places by foot. Breakfast was decent. Bed was good. Staff was friendly. Hotel only accept cards, if you have already made withdraw of cash from ATM you will not be able to pay here. Very cosy bar/"restaurant". Free water and fruit, mainly apples.
Sankt Gilgen
We stayed at Apartment 6, with few stairs to reach on lst floor. Clean and new decor, the two rooms can house 4 people. Have all required kitchenware, location can be reached by walk or Eur10 by taxi from St Gilgen bus station. To walk up for 600meters, there is big supermarket and bus stop for Mondsee or Salzburg.
I chose the Hotel for its proximity to the train station. Having lived in Salzburg I knew it was an easy walk to city center from there, and my memory had served me well. I was a student in 1977 and would walk past the Hotel Europa and look up at it in awe. It was a treat to return and actually stay there.
Ended up needing to change hotels last minute and found an affordable spot at Small Luxury Hotel Goldgasse. I lucked out! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, amazing location on a small street near the main square, comfortable room. Will 100% stay here again if I go back to Salzburg.
The design of the hotel was really nice. It was modern hotel with very good level of wellness and breakfast. Variability of meal and juices. The location by car to Salzburg was between 20-30minutes. The external area was around mountains. Hotel was clean a personal very positive.
