The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One are somewhat confusing but it seems that there are more buses than on the timetables so that is a bonus. Many lifts start at 8am, so ideally one would have breakfast at 6:30 so one could get an early bus, but may be a challenge finding accommodation that does this.

Hakuba is great and very welcoming. The people and food are amazing. The skiing was great given the snow levels were lower than normal. The only thing to keep in mind is the bus service, while convenient can get crowded and does not run as much as it maybe should. A car would definitely be a great asset to have.

Hakuba Landmark Happo Lodge was the BEST find. The staff are so lovely and helped us with everything - from directions to dinner reservations. The accommodation was very clean, with great facilities including a drying room (for snow gear) right at the front of the hotel. Heating in the bedrooms was fantastic, and the rooms were spacious. Breakfast was also incredible! Location is perfect to access Happo One - not even a 5 minute walk. Many restaurants around within walking distance. Also close to ski rentals.

The lady at reception (who, I think, was the owner) was super friendly - we ended up having long conversations with her! So was the rest of the staff. Nice vibes. We liked the ofuro (bath) as well, especially because you could book it and have it to yourself. Breakfast was great and the coffee was excellent, which is not a given in most ski resort hotels! :) All the staples of a ski lodge were there. Spacious drying room, storage, etc. There a chilling area with loads of manga - in Japanese. Nice touch. :)

The property is well located, clean, equipped with a beautiful onsen, interesting restaurant with traditional Japanese style cuisine and wonderful views of the mountains. However, above all else, the Tokyo has an amazing staff. All we’re kind, welcoming and helpful. In particular, the younger gentleman working the ski rental facility was able to answer all of our questions and ensured we had what we needed for a great day on the slopes at Happo One. We had an amazing experience staying here while in Hakuba Valley. The owners were full of hospitality, recommending the best places to eat and drink in town, and giving us best opinions on which mountains to ski at depending on the daily conditions. Staying here felt so cozy. The lodge is in a great location. About a 2min walk to the free resort shuttles and about a 10min walk to the town of Echoland. Definitely recommend if staying in the Hakuba valley.
