The location is wonderful. All rooms overlook the pool and ocean beyond. We were there the week before the pool opened so we didn't get to use it. They were filling it and it looked faboulous. The beach next to the hotel is very wide with tons of space. The restaurant was very good, again with wonderful views over the pool to the ocean. We easily could have enjoyed several days at the pool/beach in the summer without needing to leave.

-The location is amazing BUT the police made it extremely difficult to get to the hotel. It added an additional 2hrs to get to the room.
-Bella picked us up and helped get our car into the parking lot. Bella was amazing! She gave us a tour in the afternoon and showed us around. I think this should be her permanent job at the hotel. We got to see all of Sintra with her help! She was truly amazing!

really beautiful city. if you have time, you can spend up to 5 days with enough interesting sightseeing to visit. the traffic is heavy so I recommend to take buses or walking because uber/bolts can take too long to arrive where you are.
the best was a hiking from Sinta Palace to the historical center, really nice views

Sintra is a very pleasant city with a small but bustling old town. Restaurants are very good for the money. Parking would be a nightmare so don't drive in for the day. (our hotel had parking) Pena Palace was beautiful, then was dow to the Moorish Castle. but in my opinion, the crown jewel was Quinta Regliera. Make sure to get tickets online in advance!

Sintra is a beautiful town.
Sintra is a beautiful town. There are many places to see, but so many other tourists it is hard so some attractions. If you want to go to attractions you need to purchase tickets ahead of time and make sure you have reliable transportation to the attractions. Allow ample time to get to where you are going b/c traffic to the tourist sights are usually jammed with traffic.
Lots of places to eat and shop.

Historical part of Sintra certainly deserves a visit when you are in the area. In my opinion one full day will do to see visit the park and some of the palaces. You would start early so a stay overnight might be more convenient for some.Tickets are easily booked online and I purchased an audio tour to listen to on my phone. There are are tuktuk or taxi drivers around that can bring you to the entrance of the park from where you can walk to the Palace de Pena and other sites. There are several entrances. Instead going to the busy main entrance I took a tuktuk to the entrance of the Valley of the Lakes, a 45 min. walk away from Palace de Pena. It a beautiful and quiet part of the park and I took a detour to see the chalet and garden of the Countess of Edla, which I loved even more than the palace itself.
Visiting the palace involved long waits in line and walking in files through the rooms. Not my thing. The park is huge with a diversity in plants and trees, it has a camelea and a fern garden, just nice to wonder around for a few hours. Bring snacks and drinks if you want to avoid the waiting line for the cafeteria at the palace.

Lots of walking.
Lots of walking. Ideally 3-4 days to hit everything comfortably. Old Town is closed to motor traffic so rideshare, taxis, and public transportaion are your best bet. Rideshare works to the sites well but can often be a problem getting back
Hotel is a former palace for Lisbon aristocrats. It has been updated here and there, but retains much of its old charm (and in a few places, shows some age). But we loved it! Big rooms, high ceilings, lovely terrace and pool - it was all perfect for our family’s stay. They also held our luggage while we explored town and let us swim in the pool again before leaving to the next destination. On a really hot day, this hit the spot! It is not a 5 star hotel, but value is off the charts and I would definitely stay there again !
A genuine place to stay (ie NOT a chrome and glass hotel); somewhere that contributed to the experience of being in Sintra/Lisbon/ Portugal. Very friendly staff - but that's also true of amost all of the local people - and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner too.
The swimming pool was very nice and of course the view was stunning.
We were only a short (if quite strenuous) walk up to the centre of the town with bars, restaurants and of course castles to visit. Sintra is wonderful but you must be fit and mobile.
This was the best property by far, that we stayed in on our Portugal trip. It 100% deserves a higher rating. Beautiful setting and decor, very spacious and well set room with large comfy bed (again comfiest bed to date) and incredible shower with plus towels (always a sign of luxury). The staff were friendly and helpful and have a great recommendation for dinner just down the road at a small local restaurant. We had one of our favorite Portuguese meals there. Highly recommend and would come back! Obrigada!!
Charming apartment with amazing views over the old town and the valley. You can also see the Moorish Castle from the other side of the apartment. Sonia was super helpful and friendly. We took a cab from the train station so we didn't have to deal with our luggage. I'm glad we did. Those hills in Sintra are no joke! Quinta Regaleira and the National Palace of Lisbon are an easy walk. I recommend both! Lovely town. We stayed two nights, and I could have easily stayed more!
Our visit started with a warm and friendly reception by the owner who was very helpful in providing info on how and what to visit. The room was great and comfortable and breakfast was exactly what was needed to start an active day. Ample parking in close by lot was a bonus. It's location to various sites was ideal. I highly recommend Hotel Nova Sintra!
Enchanting and characteristic villa with quite some history in the most beautiful and peaceful area of Sintra. We wanted to have a special place for our anniversary, and Chalet Saudade really nailed it. Breakfast was the best we had on our stay in Portugal; green smoothies, fresh fruits, berries, and warm bakings with perfect coffee.
This was a gorgeous hotel from top to bottom. I loved the size of our room and the quality of the linens. I absolutely fell in love with the mohair blanket. The decor was amazing and the heated pool was a nice touch. I can not say enough nice thing about this hotel. I will be looking into all the Key boutique hotels in the future.
Boutique hotel with beautiful terrace garden.
Breakfast was excellent and available to eat in the terrace.
Manager was friendly and helpful.
Private parking 2 minutes away.
Train station is 5 minutes walk.
Sintra Centre is about 20 mins walk from city centre.
Very supportive and attentive staff, amazing breakfast (best we had in Portugal), perfect location with a free parking spot right in front of the hotel. Just make sure you take the right exit to reach the hotel, otherwise it will take you on a 40 minute detour.
Best breakfast in Portugal, a buffet just for us with homemade products prepared by the friendly owner. Jams, olive oil, tea,... can also be purchased as a souvenir. Beautiful view from the terrace! Good location to explore Sintra's palaces or cabo da roca.
The room has a kettle, you can make tea there! It's a great advantage as we never saw it in other hotels in Portugal
Location is great, close to all transportation and one minute from train station.
We specifically appreciated heating:)
Loved the location of this boutique hotel in Sintra. It was a little hard to get to at first if you didn't know the area. We dragged out carry ons up a hill to get there. Beautiful and clean hotel with lovely balcony.
Honestly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. It's just perfect - the staff, the view, the room and the breakfast. The finishes and décor are luxurious. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when returning to Sintra.
Beautiful property in a picturesque spot. Wish we could have stayed an extra night, this was by far the best place we stayed during our week in Portugal. Pool was perfect, location is close to everything.
Breakfast was not so good as the other hotels that we stay in Portugal. The room was smelling like mold. All our clothes smell like that after staying there. I wouldn’t stay there again
