Great staff, comfy bed, every thing was within reach.
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and offers cheaper accommodation, with easy transport links to the historic centre. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano offers fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the centre of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche centre, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called ‘mignon’.

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

It is the perfect position for a value for money ,easy base to visit Venice from.
Unfortunately we did not have time to visit Mestre itself as our focus was always towards Venice.
Mestre is a very short journey by bus two and from the airport and stops outside the hotel which means your holiday can begin within the hour. Perfect. The supermarket was well stocked with anything you should need. With places to eat and regular buses to move around or by foot

The No.2 bus stops right outside to take you to the centre of Venice. Hotel Garibaldi is excellent quality for a a very reasonable price, breakfast will set you up for the day. I will be back again soon!!

Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative...
Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative though you definitely miss out on the old, traditional feel of Venice (I had stayed in a hotel in Venice another time and it was wonderful there). If you eat in Mestre, it's much cheaper. We ate at 'Da Michele'. Excellent food, very good value for money. We did not have any time to explore Mestre per se, though.
From the very beginning our experience with the hotel was positive. They suggested a parking house for our car just down the street which although pricey was very safe and secure. The reception was friendly and helpful. The room, although compact was well laid out and well equipped.
The hotel is just a short walk from the Mestre train station with frequent trains going into Venice (it seems to be 4-5 trains per hour). The train only takes 12 minutes and is very inexpensive at € 2.90 per person roundtrip.
The hotel is located in Mestre and this is the best choice to do (staying in Mestre) if you want to visit Venice for a short time (2-3 days). It is located only 5-7mins far from the Mestre Train Station and this is very good if you plan to come or go by train especially (but also closer to come or go from airport).
You can easily take a bus right from the hotel (1min walk) to Venice (Piazzale Roma).
It is a new hotel and very clean. There is room service everyday.
The best quality of the hostel is the excellent staff. They amazingly remember names of people who have stayed there previously, and become friends. Outstanding location, one block from the Mestre train station and bus station, with easy connections to other North Italy cities. Lots of shops nearby including well stocked tech shops. The rooms have everything. It's a 15 minute train ride to the canal section of Venice.
The hotel has a very convenient location right in front of the train station in Mestre, with easy access to Venice either by train or bus. There is a discount for hotel clients at the parking lot right next to it, with reserved spots very close to the entrance for those with heavy luggage. The staff was super nice all the time and we were overall really satisfied with the experience.
This little hotel is located in Mestre, just outside the crowds of beautiful Venice. Very good location, a few minutes walk to the nearest tram station (T2), which takes you to the lagoon of Venice (Piazzale Roma) in about 15 minutes. Clean rooms, very kind and helpful staff, comfortable beds, this was all we needed after our days full of adventures.
We always stay at the Plaza when in Venice and always use the airport bus (to get there as bus station is just a 5 minute walk across the street) from the hotel., and next to the train station (and the train into central Venice) and the great small restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast on the 2nd floor was very nice as well.
This hotel is wonderful. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful. The room had eveyething we needed; fridge, ac, big balcony, comfortable beds and bathroom. Breakfast was nice and customer service is really wonderful. Less than 5 min walk to mestre central station and the tram to venice.
The beds were very comfortable and we had enough space for all of our things. Everything was clean and the location was really great. You can get to Venezia Mestre by walk in 6min and the next bus station to Venice City us just 3min away. The connections were really good and definitely worth the little money you pay.
The hotel has great location near to bus station to Venice, but also near to centre of Mestre, which is also worthy to see.
Rooms are cleaned every day, we'll maintained, I did not miss anything there. The balcony doors are perfectly soundproof.
Stuff is super nice and very helpful.
It's a comfortable hotel with very clean rooms. Located close to the center of the city Mestre, 5 min walk to the bus station from which you can go to Venice (it takes 15 min). We were traveling with dog and kid. Dogs are welcome, the price for a dog stay is not high.
The room was very clean, with a large bed, we had no problems during our stay. The hotel is close to the train station at Venice Mestre, making the touristic areas of Venice easily accessible. The neighbourhood is quiet, and there is a small shop and cafe close by.
The location is good in Mestre and easy access the train or bus station to reach Venice. There are restaurants and mini markets around the hotel so that is a plus.
The hotel have a great common area with a lot of space and place to relax or just have a chat.
Great location, close to the train station to go into Venice & bus station to the airport. Clean tidy rooms & friendly welcome from staff. Hotels with in Venice can be expensive so you can find a good rate staying in Mestre & getting the train to Venice.
5 mins walk from Mestre train station.
Bus station to Venice is just behind the hotel.
They even packed our breakfast on our request, as we had to leave before 7AM.
Hotel was very clean.
Lady at the reception has very good attitude and tries her best.
The convenient location made it easy to explore Mestre and commute to Venice every day. The breakfast was enjoyable; it included a wide selection of items. It is an old hotel that shows its age. The rooms are small but clean and the staff was courteous.
Location is great, only a few minutes to the Venice Mestre train station, so you can go to Venice by bus or train easily. Staff is very decent and helpful.
Bed is very comfortable and the room is clean.
A nice park is just in front of the hotel.
Hotel was located on good place in Mestre, with available free parking. Public transportation has a good connection with Venice. Tram or bus has 15 min interval. Hotel offer standard continental breakfast. Room was cleaned on daily level.
Great hospitality, great location very close to Mestre Center and very easy with public transports from / to Venezia and Marco Polo Airport. Will definitely pick this one again on our next visit to Venice
Breakfast is ok, normal for this pricing. The hotel is mainly clean and has good space in the lobby to sit, to work or something. Ok for location. 7 min non hurry walk to Venezia Mestre main station.
Very nice and clean hotel, spotlessly clean, pet friendly, very polite and helpful staff. Strategical position for going to Venice by bus or to explore Mestre.
