The location is perfect. Not far away from Newbridge & Carlow. It’s not too far off the motorway so it is easy accessible & although is close to busy roads, it is so peaceful & quiet! The grounds are lovely to walk around. The host is lovely & so helpful! The accommodation is absolutely stunning!

Moate Lodge, hotel in Kilkea

A Georgian farmhouse in the Kildare countryside, Moate Lodge near Athy provides individually designed rooms and a full breakfast menu.

What was not to like?! We were travelling through Ireland and staying in a beautiful 18th century home. We booked in the afternoon and Mary was so accommodating about us checking in an hour after the listed times as we were still heading there after an activity. Lovely breakfast and recommendations on where to go for dinner/excursions/missing traffic. Cannot fault this stay in any way. We left saying to each other what a lovely experience it was staying there, even if it was only for the night. Can't wait to come back.

I loved the food, especially the fine dining at the castle. The atmosphere was amazing, great bar with a range of good cocktails, very friendly and welcoming place. The room was lovely and had an excellent shower. The breakfasts were amazing. They catered to my dietary requirements of being both vegan and gluten free.

Property was spotless clean, staff very friendly and went above and beyond, grounds were lovely to walk around and I would definitely recommend to anybody looking to book and stay... Only ting I didn't like was the fact we had to pay extra to use the thermal suite while staying as a guest

Lovely warm and cosy castle hotel, friendly staff, excellent reception staff and very enjoyable dinner and breakfast in 1180 room. Bar prices very high and glass of wine with dinner was way overpriced at 20euro for half glass wine. Lovely room, fab shower but dusting behind TV needs to be attended to.

    Our stay was magical.

Our stay was magical. We originally booked a carriage room but did a bit more we had to stay in the actual castle. It was amazing. The grounds are stunning and sit on a golf course. The Castle was in amazing condition and the feels so warm and comforting. The bar has a nice vibe and the lounge has a raging fire at night. Breakfast was off the hook and hosted in 2 beautiful rooms. Ended up playing a round for only $60. Enjoy
