I would stay here again as the location was great, the pool was lovely and the room was nice. However the staff need to get up to scratch. The reception staff need to speak a little English, the cleaning staff are good at cleaning but I had to ask for toilet paper, shower gel and tea and coffee to be replenished every day. The restaurant was expensive and I couldn't find anything on the menu I liked. I am not fussy and in fact I am a chef - the staff were friendly but the restaurant closed between 4 & 5 so that the staff could have a break - and closed completely on Tuesday - not what I would expect from any hotel. The whole island is a total delight especially towards end of season when slightly quieter and cooler. Hotel choice (Hotel Le Grand Large) is a real gem with a good resturant and very attentive staff. We went at a time when Covid numbers were high at home. We found it easy to be careful- we travelled in our own car, left the windows open when we went out and ate outside. We were very happy to be on Ile de Re especially as it had seemed we may not get away. It was charming and the food and weather were very good

The weather was raining whist we were there so we didn't see as much as we would have liked to. The island looks a great place to explore. Better to park the car and take to the bicycles. The roads are extremely busy.

The hotel is located right on the sea front and is ideal for sea swimming and walks. The poor is nice and the sauna/jacuzzi area is brilliant (it can be rented privately for an affordable price). The rooms were standard. The staff were really really nice and very helpful. We had breakfast there and it was delicious. We ate in the restaurant one night and it was fine. Overall a lovely place and worked out perfectly for us exploring ile de re and la rochelle.

The staff was always extremely helpful to address our questions and we even dined in the hotel restaurant one evening and enjoyed the serving and food selection. Hotel's restaurant next door also has a restaurant room on the boardwalk and an outdoor eating option with comfortable sofas. Food was great. Other restaurants in walking distance.
