Surrounded by beautiful gardens, Shamrock Lodge Hotel is a family-run hotel located in the very centre of Ireland, just 5 minutes’ walk from the restaurants, bars, and nightlife of Athlone town... We had an unusual experience during our stay here. We had a lovely room, very large and comfortable, and all the reception people we dealt with were very helpful. In the morning after our first night, my husband had a kidney stone attack, and we had to go to the hospital. It was a Sunday and the receptionist told us we needed to go to Portiuncula Hospital and she called a taxi. After that, he was admitted to hospital, and I was on my own for the next night and I had to add on one more night, which was in a smaller room, but equally as comfortable. I appreciated being able to have dinner at the hotel for the two nights on my own, and the meals were very good. I had the breakfast on one morning, and it was very good, with lots of variety. I also appreciated the kindness and understanding of the reception staff. On the morning I left, because I had to wait for a taxi, the receptionist had tea and a biscuit brought to me. It was a memorable stay, perhaps for the wrong reasons, but I will always remember the staff at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.

This luxurious AA 4-star hotel is a haven of peace and quiet, on the beautiful shores of Lough Ree, by Athlone Golf Course. Staff, food, amenities excellent, great location!

In Athlone's lively centre, this 4-star Sheraton Hotel has a 20-metre pool, a luxury spa, free internet and free parking. Thanks very much for the excellent service and a great room. Next time we will only stop at this hotel!
