It's a fantastic place where you feel like you've entered another world. The monks are very polite, accommodating, and helpful. You absolutely must experience this.

39 km from Kishi Station in Koyasan, 高野山 宿坊 光明院 -Koyasan Shukubo Komyoin- provides accommodation with access to a hot tub. It is situated 45 km from Matsushita Park and offers luggage storage space. Clean, quiet, beautiful, meaningful. Words are not enough to describe.

Located in Tanabe, 12 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine, Minshuku Sumiya offers accommodation with a public bath. A great small guest house. The hosts were very pleasant and accommodating, very good English skills. Thank you! Everything was clean, the futon beds actually were surprisingly comfortable. We very much enjoyed the private onsen! Since the guesthouse is not big we did not have to wait to use it even once. The location is very nice, it is near the river and everything is within walking distance (except for groceries shop but that is expected in such a remote area).

Offering a garden and garden view, 高野山 宿坊 不動院 -Koyasan Shukubo Fudoin- is located in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park and 47 km from Subaru Hall. From the reception to the checkout, everything was perfect. The monks were friendly and extremely helpful as well as being discrete. The complex is set back from the road so it is really peaceful. Dinner is served around 17:30 and is absolutely delicious. You are in a private room screened off from the other guests. The dinner is a highlight of the stay in Koya-san. I would just advise that this experience is not really recommended for younger kids and teenagers with limited food options. Dressing up in a yukata may be fun but a 9pm curfew and peaceful atmosphere isn't conducive to rest and relaxation either for them or the other guests. If you intend to do the night tour of the cemetery just remember the curfew. In summer nightfall is around 7:30. Before breakfast we participated in the morning service with everything explained in English A unique experience on Koya-san and an interesting insight into Buddhist practice.

Located in Koyasan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 高野山 宿坊 常喜院 -Koyasan Shukubo Jokiin- offers free private parking. All rooms include a flat-screen TV. The area Jokiin is situated in was perfect for my stay. It was in close proximity to all the historic and spiritually significant sites I wanted to see. The staff there are excellent, very passionate people who are maintaining a beautiful tradition. While I myself do not speak Japanese, the staff were more than accommodating for me and my needs.

Hotel Kirinosato Takahara features outdoor and indoor hot spring baths, only a 2-minute walk from the World Heritage Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes. I love the design of the room which is very cozy and modern. The location is right at the center of Takahara and looking out the window, we can appreciate the whole Mountain View. I also love the foods. The host is very kind and accommodating that they agree to help us ship a package which is outside the service they listed to provide.
