How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location, its on the way to the airport. For is it was 30 mins from Colombo fort to the train station relatively close to the accommodation
I dont have much expectation from a budget accommodation, I just wanna have a good sleep. Here I could not as the bed was too short for me. There is a mosquito net tent above the bed in which I hardly could get in. It was so small, that I could not lay without touching it. The whole place is very dirty. After 9pm I couldt go out as the gate was closed. The breakfast was dissspointing, no coffe or tea served. In the streets aruond plastic is burned, making the air hard to breath. The room is small, the bathtub disgusting. The tuktuk is 2500 from here to the airport. Next time I rather sleep in the city, no point to stop here. For all these almost 5000 rupies for a night is way too expensive. Should not be more tjan 3000.
Hey thank you for the review first and as i expected from you. First of all you gave check in time around 2-3 pm and came around 8 pm with out any permission. It took so long you have used only public transport. From Colombo railway to my place will take only 20 minutes but public transport can be delay in our country. It's only 40 SLR per person. For the break first i spend 7 USD and basically you had all and remaining fruits even you packed and took. I can understand that because you didn't take your dinner last night. You asked coffee for both of you that wiil cost me around 2 USD. That i can not afford for this small budget. Niht you wanted to go out to buy water you said all day you had only some fruits and very hungry. But you do not want to order foods and small shops around were closed. If you happened to buy water you have to go buy tuk tuk it will cost you around 1.5 USD plus out side warer bottle will cost 100 SLR per bottle. I gave two bottles for 160 SLR. This complain is due to your ignorance and disrespect for other human. Bed is 6 feet and 3 inches and you did not know how to put the net. Even relatively mosquitoes are very less in the area and greenly. I had to meet in my carrier as a host very few you like guest. Any way i humbly wish you both good luck my Hungarian friends. My place to airport by tuk tuk is maximum around 6 usd by pick me and uber app the time you travel.

Verified reviewBudget friendly place, very accessible by train. Very close to the train station in Erundamulla, the neighbourhood is very peaceful to be in. Room has good facilities with a nice balcony and a view. Great local breakfast is included and Upul is a warm and helpful host, always looking out for your needs.

Verified reviewthe owner was very friendly and nice. they offert to add à breakfast option for 3$ extra. They had a good fan in the room and bathroom in from the room.
The pillow was too old, need to be change for news ones. The bed was bit hard, maybe if they add memorie foam will improve the bed. They doesnt have personnal bathroom in the room. The room was small but still have little desk, it's fine for short period.
