Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe facility was impossible to find without assistance. It is one of three rooms on the third floor of a building above a restaurant. When we asked people in the vicinity where the Gothic Palace was, they had no idea. We only found it by calling the office and having someone come over. Once found, you had to navigate the three sets of stairs with spotty lighting and uneven steps. We also found the included breakfast offering at a nearby restaurant to be sub-standard.
The location in the middle of the palace was superb. The bed was comfortable and the housekeeping service was excellent.

Gothic Palace Heritage was perfect—cool vibe, great location right in the heart of Split’s old town. Room was spacious, clean, and surprisingly quiet considering how central it is. Staff were super helpful without being over the top. Would definitely stay again. Easy, comfortable, and just the right amount of character.

United KingdomThis is not in a hotel but is a separate room in a building in the old town. It was on the third floor with no lift - fine for us, but it would be a problem for some people.
Great room in wonderful location

United StatesThere are a lot of stairs to this room. I chose it because wanted to stay inside the palace, thinking that the room would have period features. It did not. In retrospect, I would stay in the Kastel 1700 Hotel. You would still get Angelina's amazing care, but in a more traditional hotel setting.
This property is managed by the Kastel 1700 Hotel. Angelina from the hotel was amazing. She really went out of her way to make our stay perfect. She made our stay special.

AustraliaThree flights of stays to the room dur to heritage listing, no lift. Not something they can change easily.
Lovely designed rooms, brand new bathrooms, clean and very attentive staff. We departed early before breakfast was served and they arranged breakfast at another venue to accommodate us. Very centrally located near the attractions, restaurants and transport. Fab stay!

United KingdomThe travel ironing board cover provided was dirty, and because of the Split Summer festival, the alleyway leading to the hotel was closed off in the evenings. However, that was no fault of the hotel itself.
The location was excellent in the middle of the Diocletian Palace, only a few minutes walk from loads of bars and restaurants and when the palace basement walkway was open, only a short walk to the waterfront. The room was very clean, with the staff replacing our towels everyday.

Amazing place to stay! Close to everything, just in the old town. Very nice lady working explained us everything, recomended places to go, was very polite 🥰 parking place like 5-7min walk from hotel, but in general not so far. Room is big, beds are comfortable, towels soft. All is just good!

United KingdomSome noise from doors banging late at night and first thing in the morning but not awful. We had the first room on the left as you enter so might be better in the other rooms.
Breakfast is in the restaurant just 30m away rather than on the premises but it was very good. Staff were excellent, friendly and very professional.

AustraliaWe were not made aware that to get to our room we would have to walk up four flights of stairs. This could be a problem for older visitors with large suitcases. Also the is no reception at the rooms and its location is difficult to find.
