The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated with quality elements paying attention to every detail. The quality and variety of the breakfast options were to the highest standards (buffet for cold dishes and a la carte for hot dishes). The location of the hotel is extremely convenient to avoid having to use the car, everything is within walking distance. On top of everything, the views from the hotel to the ocean and coastline are just spectacular! We'll definitely visit again!

Gorgeous rooms with panoramic views to the ocean, well equipped from the whirlpool in the rooms, to the little biscuits and chocolats available, to the options to watch Netflix directly setup. The team running the hotel is beyond fantastic - special mention to Dean who has truly made our stay special with his impeccable service, positive attitude & attention to detail (we got our own private dinner on the balcony!). BrazilVery special place. Like many others in South Africa - specially in Garden Route - the staff was specially careful and nice. It was our honeymoon and they manage to guarantee everything, including a boat ride from Gansbaai.
The property is absolutely beautiful, and the city of Hermanus is a very special destination to enjoy.

The location is perfect, the design of the house is amazing, rooms are stylish and comfortable, breakfast is of a high-quality made with love. Besides all the things which make this place perfect, it is one of the loveliest couples that runs it. They are very nice, hospitable, funny, and caring. I felt like i was staying with my family, although i have just met them :) They also gave us excellent tip for the rest of our stay in the country. Thank you soooo sooo much for such a wonderful experience and unforgettable stay!

The garden is amazing, the hot tub and pool superb and the service spectacular. I cannot recommend this enough. Diego and Réka are support hosts. Well, barely 20 minutes after our arrival — after the tour of our room and the entire hotel, all the way to the terrace with that breathtaking view — we booked an extra night.
It was love at first sight with Birkenhead House! What a hotel!
How often do you still see that these days, by the way: people taking the time to show you not just your room, but the whole hotel? You can really feel how proud everyone here is — and rightly so!
Having all meals and drinks included in the rate is also an incredible asset. And rest assured, no crowded buffets here, but friendly and discreet table service for your meals, as well as in the lounges or out on the terrace for a drink. Top-notch!
Oh, and excellent beds too, featuring the best sleep aid in the world: the sound of the ocean!
It’s actually that unique blend of the true boutique hotel atmosphere (a term that’s often overused but absolutely fitting here), the in-cre-di-ble location perched on the cliffs with (literally!) views of breaching whales behind the surfers, the intimacy, the delicious food & drinks, the stunning views from almost every spot, and — above all! — the wonderful staff, that make this hotel so exceptional.
A huge thank you to the entire team for making our stay at Birkenhead House an absolute highlight of our trip!

Our stay was magical, the location is magical! The property is right in front of the socean, we could hear the waves all the time and spot whales from our terrace. It is right on top of this beautiful path you can take along the coast. The property is not affected by loadshedding. As a family with three small children we felt welcomed. The owners are really nice people.

One of the most beautiful seaside towns in South Africa, if not the world. The waterfront offers a multitude of excellent restaurant options, and at night has a warm and welcoming ambience. The Sky Bar offers an exciting range of cocktails and has a lovely buzz. The cliff walk is a must-do, offering breathtaking views along the coastline and across Walker Bay.

Struisbaai is a wonderful place to stay, it is small and has all the facilities one could need, restaurants, shopping, chemist etc. I loved the harbour, and being a photographer this is a wonderful place to stay. It also has beautiful beaches and lots of places to walk, I felt safe at all times.

Agulhas is a quiet beautiful little town with wonderful places to eat and visit. The people of Agulhas are friendly and the sea view is lovely, lots of walking paths and an animal friendly environment. The southernmost point of Africa where the two oceans meet and it is part of the National Parks Council.You'll discover fascinating ecological habitats, shipwrecks, national monuments and signs of ancient settlements in this nature conservation area.

Stanford is a quaint, peaceful and very beautiful Village. It offers the chance to rekindle your oneness with nature and explore the beauty of the surrounding countryside and Reserves. Stanford offers a unique shopping experience, which seemingly encourages a more relaxed, ambient pastime. We were very privileged to be able to dine at Madre's, an iconic restaurant with food to match, a gastronomic experience in itself.
There appears to be annual shows held in the town, those being the Flower Show and the Motor Shows, both of which appear to attract great interest from locals and holidaymakers alike.
A beautiful and very special town, with its very own personality and charm.

For visiting the hot springs it is good, however it is expensive and you are better off staying in an Air BnB near by and visiting the springs in the day time. Bedrooms lack privacy and are prone to noise from the outside and neighbouring rooms well into the evening.

It is well kitted, spacious and has a wonderful homely feel, First class safety and cleanliness, friendly reception and communication from the keyholder and owners Lovely views and whale sightings in the bay!
