- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 314 reviewsYoung couple visiting Cotswolds for the first time . Absolutely outstanding hotel grounds! We could not believe the size of the place. We were delighted with the service of the staff they all worked hard , were attentive and the place was beautifully decorated and clean . Room was clean , spacious and cosy . Main house we really enjoyed exploring particularly the reception and billiard room! The spa was excellent with immaculate changing rooms . We went at a quiet time so had full use of the jacuzzis. Just what you need on a cold dry night. Dressing gowns in the rooms which were perfect if you took a chilly walk there. The food was delicious and plenty of options. We opted to have 3 courses at the travelling duke for 2 nights for only £25pp including steak ! We hope we can come back for a meal at the Brassiere as this was booked up every night. The value for the location, room, food, spa and hotel entertainment services was excellent. Didn’t use the golf course but it was appealing. Lots of activities to do too when you are there. The location was perfect and only a short drive to Chipping Norton and into other towns. Surprised it didn’t attract a younger crowd but we can’t wait to come back!Guest review byemmaUnited Kingdom

A lovely city. A day or two is fine.
A lovely city. A day or two is fine. The Cotswolds tour is a must. There are great pubs to dine and have a drink. The hop on hop off was helpfull. We also used taxis to and from the station, which was very close.Guest review bygelastopoulosGreece - 10.0

A nice little town which we visited for social reasons. Hit on market day which added to the atmosphere. Other than that we did not spend a lot of time there but would like to investigate further should there be a next time.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Delightful old town with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Lovely old buildings, especially the almshouses and the church. Friendly people. Good eating places. Smashed avocado at The Pablo Lounge is excellent! Good location for catching a bus into Oxford or for exploring the area generally. Walks along river delightful.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice little town with great pubs and close by to local attractions. We stayed here so that we could visit the farmers dog and we were only 25 minutes away. We also visited a few of the other little towns and villages. Great location. We ate at Bitter & twisted one evening in chipping Norton. Staff were friendly and the food was lovely. Great value for money also. We would definitely return.Guest review byKatie - 10.0

The town has a little bit of everything from a bustling town centre, small museum, great bookstores , a great choice and variety of cafes and pubs. The nearby country walks across beautiful Cotswold countryside also provides you with exercise and fresh air. Clarkson’s pub-The Farmer’s Dog-is within busing or walking distance. There are many other pubs worth visiting nearby as well-many providing delicious and nutritious meals. We really enjoyed our visit and would come again.Guest review byJayneCanada - 8.0

Banbury is a good-sized market town at the edge of the Cotswolds. While it's not built of Cotswold stone it's still a good place to stay if you want access to shops, restaurants, pubs and the cinema; so it's convenient and possibly a bit cheaper than the heart of the Cotswolds. It's surrounded by lovely villages and countryside, I can recommend visiting Deddington (especially when the market is on) and Cropredy - for a stroll along the canal.Guest review byHowardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The town is well laid out, car parking is easy and free! Many excellent chain and independent shops plus eateries. Can recommend the Three Horseshoes. Witney is located on the edge of the Cotswolds being a good base to visit Burford, Bibury and environs.Guest review byAlvanUnited Kingdom - 8.0

An attractive small town, right next door to Blenheim Palace and near to Oxford: an excellent base for exploring the area more generally. The town has lots of places to eat and drink, and some useful shops, including a co-op in the centre of town. Prices aren't cheap, but quality is good. Parking can be a bit of a problem at busy periods, but we managed OK.Guest review byGeoffreyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
