Really liked Alnwick, pretty little town with lots of independent shops to explore and a good range of choices for eating out. It is cobbled in places and a bit hilly, if you have mobility issues. We had a good meal in the Market Inn; we were lucky to get in as there was a constant stream of people looking for a table while we were there. It is obviously very popular. Also had an excellent chippy tea in Carlos Fish & Chip restaurant. Explored Alnwick Castle, which we loved and also the Alnwick Garden, a little oasis. Would love to revisit in the spring when everything is in full bloom.Guest review byFionaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hexham is a beautiful market town, a place where people live and work - not touristy but with everything a tourist might want e.g. cafes, restaurants, arts events, a cinema. Great public transport connections to Newcastle and Carlisle. Exceptional countryside - Hadrian's Wall of course, but don't forget the North Pennines for remote wild walks.Guest review byKateUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely place with plenty of shop's and pubs and eating places. Lovely harbour where you can sit and look out to sea and just chill. Plenty of boat trips and a couple of golf courses nearby. The walks are out of this world with stunning scenery and people are friendly.Guest review bystephenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A historic and interesting small town - was a staging post on the Great North Road, hence it's closeness to the current A1. Also on East Coast main railway line so easy access. Free disc parking in town car parks and a good range of shops both national brands and local. Lidl and Morrisons supermarkets quite central. Lovely park with paddling pool and playground with old motte and bailey mound still there. Boating on the river in summer. Small castle but is a private residence. Close to Cragside and Wallington National trust properties and beach at Newbiggin. Northumberland Zoo nearby and well worth a visit with children. Could go on but will finish there with a would recommend comment!Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bamburgh is a picturesque small village with the castle...
Bamburgh is a picturesque small village with the castle dominating the skyline. We stayed two nights in a local hotel. There are a good selection of pubs and restaurants. We ate in the Middle inn which had a wide selection on its menu was reasonably priced and the speed of service was first rate. The main reason for our visit was the castle which was exceptional - great views great history and a very interesting museum. Bamburgh also good as a base for the area. We went on a boat trip to the Farne islands and Lindisfarne from Seahouses which is a short distance from Bamburgh. Lindisfarne island is bigger than you think so allow more time to visit. Also would recommend you prebook wherever possible - it saves a lot of time on the dayGuest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Wooler is the perfect base to explore so much of wonderful Northumberland. The Cheviot hills are on your doorstep, literally walking distance and it is very easy to get to the coast, Lindesfarne and many other places just 30 minutes drive away. A small market town with a high street packed with great shops, pubs, takeaways and cafes; we recommend the Terrace cafe for excellent all day breakfasts and great coffee . The town is particularly good for those who like browsing antique and bric a brac shops, there was even an Auction when we were there.Guest review byHeskiaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Beadnell Bay is a glorious place to visit.
Beadnell Bay is a glorious place to visit. The vastness of the beach is magnificent with wonderful views. The centre of the village is very friendly with cafes, a lovely pub and hotel. It is a good base to visit other nearby places such as Seahouses and Bamburgh with its magnificent castle and Grace Darling museum.Guest review byKathleenUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Belford is a very quiet village.
Belford is a very quiet village. Hasn't really anything to do apart from drink in a pub or cafe. There are no shops to speak of locally apart from a charity shop and post office. But it's a good base to explore the area. The pubs and cafe are good places to eat. We ate at the Blue Bell. I wouldn't stay at the Blue Bell again unless it had some money spent on the roomsGuest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Poor service, given the wrong door code.
Poor service, given the wrong door code. Staff that didn't react when required. Managers number just rings and rings. Cowboys, they may have 150 other properties but it shows. They don't care about you. I got a room I couldn't get into and now I am still waiting 18 days later for a refund. ShamefulGuest review bygaryUnited Kingdom
