It was fantastic. The hotel, the staff, the food. Everyone was cheerful and helpful and they couldn’t do enough for us. Even put a birthday card out on our table for our family breakfast to celebrate my husbands 60th. Will recommend going to The Beach to all our friends and we will book again.

FAQs about hotels in Cornwall

The Stuff of Legends

Inhabited since prehistory, Cornwall is characterised by a series by rocky bays, fishing villages and spectacular coastline. Right at England’s western tip is Land’s End where sheer cliffs descend into the Atlantic Ocean. Along the coast is popular St Ives, home to many Cornwall hotels by the sea on Booking.com.

Another fantastic beach resort is Penzance, while across the bay is St Michael’s Mount (not to be confused with similar Mont St-Michel in Normandy). Also boasting a wonderful beach is Newquay, though it is best known for its excellent surfing conditions.

Further north is Tintagel, the stuff of legends due to its association with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The remains of Tintagel Castle are perched dramatically on a rocky promontory, while inland on Bodmin Moor granite tors and stone monoliths only add to Cornwall’s feeling of mystery.

Heading north towards Bude the Cornwall beaches become longer, while on the southern coast Looe is a picturesque town curving around an inlet. To the east near St Austell is the Eden Project, huge domes housing thousands of plants from all over the world.

The county town of Cornwall is Truro, home to an impressive cathedral overlooking the River Fal which flows down to Falmouth Bay, a great spot to try some local Cornish ice cream.

Its a beautiful property in the grounds of a wood and built into a wooded hill and looked very Scandinavian. Quirky modern interior at reception, clean rooms, fantastic spa, excellent breakfasts. Dinner and lunch very good with friendly, engaging staff who were surprisingly young but everyone had a superb professional and friendly demeanor. Very impressive all round and thankfully the bar staff can make good cocktails.

The beaches and coastal walks were stunning.

The beaches and coastal walks were stunning. The town is easily navigated on foot with some decent bars and restaurants- but has a bit of a rough edge at times / places. Wetherspoons (Towan Blistra) was great value for food / drinks. Trenance Gardens and lake (free) is a lovely amenity and well worth a visit. We opted to spend all of our 6 nights in Newquay and used a hire car to visit other places. On reflection about two nights there would have been enough and a few more nights at St Ives / Penzance / Falmouth, etc would have been better.

Pleasant town, some interesting small galleries; loved the train trip to and from St Erth. Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden excellent; Tate Modern impressive building and location, collection disappointing. Geevor Tin Mine Museum very good. Bad weather prevented wander through what appeared an interesting cemetery. Ate at apartment as too difficult to get down into town at night. Surprised that some bus routes ceased at end of August. Live near the beach at Sydney but still pleased to see Porthminster after cobblestone beaches elsewhere in England. Very helpful tourist information centre.

The sea water lido on the shore, with a geothermal section was a big hit with us. We enjoyed walking along the promendate and watching the variable sea, sometimes crashing against the formidable sea wall. Our main attraction for choosing Penzance was the ferry to St Marys, Isles of Scilly, which is doable as a day trip. The ferry port is at the end of the promendate, easily accessible. There are good bus services to various destinations in the area, such as Mousehole and St Ives.

The bus service is good - so well worth using it as parking in Cornwall tourist spots is difficult. The ferry rides to surrounding areas are well worth taking. It's a student town and so quite lively but everyone we met was extremely polite and friendly. Town kept very clean by CCC.

Apart from the cathedral there was not much else . We had based ourselves in Truro to visit Tresillik National Trust which in spite of being in great location was rather dissappointing having visited Lanhydrock earlier in the day which was superb. The house in Tressilick was very limited and appeared to be mainly used in lieu of the more usual excellent NT restaurant.

We love Padstow and have visited several times over the years. Bear in mind that it is actually very small and can get intolerably over-crowded in high season. We went in late September this year and it was still very busy. It's extremely pretty but not cheap to eat or shop there

Tintagel is a magical place to visit. Lots of little shops and places to eat. We enjoyed having a coffee at the Camelot Castle Hotel with beautiful views of the sea and the moors. Also King Arthur’s Castle can be seen and people walking over the bridge to it. We would like to have walked over the bridge but we were advised that the walk is long and steep and not suitable for unsteady walkers.
