Batemans Bay has no Visitor Information Centre.
Batemans Bay has no Visitor Information Centre. The shoreline is amazing and the sunrises are glorious. Everything is in easy reach and easily reachable within walking distance. I find the 3pm close down a small issue. Its a great place to fish and swim and very close to Sydney and Eden. The Ocean Grill Fish and Chip shop on the waterfront was great the fish fresh and beautifully cooked, the chips very moreish. Lots of inexpensive and more expensive places to eat. I think Merimbula is a hidden gem.
I think Merimbula is a hidden gem. Why go to Noosa when you have Merimbula. We are not 'beach' people but loved the views and the walks on the sand. The scenery is to die for. The Drive in from Canberra and out towards Melbourne was filled with beauty. We were able to participate in our 'thing' which is Ballroom Dancing which is held fortnightly at the Saphire Club. Kiama is a gorgeous town, we loved the Main Street coffee shops and beachfront walkable areas. The playground was fantastic in town, leagues club did great food and service. We enjoyed the blow holes and walking along the hills and spotting whales all day long. So many beautiful beaches and everywhere had a view! In this case the visit was for a photographic tour. Nowra is the perfect base for playing tourist as most attractions are an easy drive away (half to an hour away). Accommodation is hugely expensive (hundreds or thousands $$$) in the tourist Meccas and mostly unavailable anyway. I recommend Nowra for an economic and hassle free stay. There are some nice places to see and if you like a bit of a drive, Tilba Tilba for example. Have lunch at the "Drom" and check out the cheese shop. Ulladulla is a favourite location, It has a range of cafes, from the trendy in the open carpark across the road from Coles, to the plainer food I like, next to Coles, to everything in between. Another favourite is Harris Scarfe, their Govani, cut price, large size, night dresses and tops. The presence of Aldi, Coles and Woolworths and Reject shop. There is Silly Sollys too ,a big store, nothing over $5, go behind the shops on the right as you travel from Sydney, to find it and huge parking. The other stores and second hand books are all across the main road.
