We loved that you can do safari drives in both the Kruger national park, which is huge, and the Sabi Sands that is more intimate and you can get a little closer to the animals. The staff make this place amazing, all so kind and accommodating. We loved our guide Percy who really went above and beyond on our drives, and Matt who was really accommodating, plus all other staff (too many to mention). The food was great, all meals. The tents are nicer than expected with really comfortable, large beds, air con and a good shower/bathroom. The pool area is also really nice and they are building a second. Overall really great value and the perfect safari experience. We hope to return again!

Featuring mountain views, Isambane Camp in Balule Game Reserve features accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, a shared lounge, a terrace and a bar. The staff is absolutely amazing! Shayna, Emma and Angela were great hosts and guides, the staff was awesome and the Chef is GREAT! Safe and delicious place for vegans! The game drives were very nice and fun, the girls know their bush! We got to see the big five in only 2 days. The cabin was nice and cozy, even though it gets pretty hot during the day (at night it becomes bearable with the fan on). Good hot shower! The elephants in the pool are breathtaking and the highlight of this amazing place.

Part of the Greater Kruger area, Kapama River Lodge is situated in the expansive 15,000-hectare Kapama Private Game Reserve. Everything is superbly organized and everyone is very friendly. It was an exceptional experience!

With Orpen Gate reachable in 40 km, Lion Tree Top Lodge offers accommodation, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a shared lounge. The accommodation has a hot tub. A superb and relaxing oasis in the middle of the bush. Lynn and Brian are exceptional hosts and their staff are amazing. Great food was also a bonus. Thanks for a great stay, it was the perfect close to our South African adventure 😊

Africa on Foot is located in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. The rustic-style camp features thatched chalet accommodation, a bar and a viewing deck with splash pool and sun loungers. Food was delicious, staff were warm friendly and informative

Offering an outdoor pool and a veranda with views of the Northern Drakensbergs, Mbizi Bush Lodge is a small lodge nestled in the Grietjie Game Reserve. Spend 6 nights at Mbizi Bush Lodge and enjoyed every single moment. Infrastructure is excellent and well maintained, the rooms are spacious and provide a lot of privacy. It is located inside a private reserve and does not have fences around it so the immersion is out of this world. Food is a big highlight here, from breakfast to dinner all meals are delicious and unique everyday. They also have amazing game drives twice a day. For anyone reading this, you won’t regret making a reservation here! Already planning my next visit.

Surrounded by nature and wildlife, Greenfire Game Lodge is located inside the Balule Game Reserve. It offers a viewing deck, dining room and outdoor pool. We had an excellent first South African safari experience at the Greenfire Game Lodge. The atmosphere was genuinely friendly and relaxed, The owners Nigel and Carol and their staff are making sure that you feel very welcomed and comfortable. The rooms are actually nicely decorated and comfortable cabins with a deck that is overlooking the riverbed and the bush on the other side. You can spend hours there just listening to the sound of the bush and watch elephants, giraffes and other animals pass by. The food was very nice and varied, the breakfast was great with fresh fruit, yogurt, scones and an assortment of egg based dishes to choose from. Lunch and dinner and wine assortment very nice as well. And finally the game drives.. such an amazing experience!! Our guide Given is such a wealth of knowledge, he transmitted his passion for his work, and patiently and willingly answered all our questions about the surrounding nature, the animals and about South African culture and politics, it was a pleasure to make his acquaintance (we were the only guests for 2 nights, arriving just after the end of the high season, so we had a lot of opportunity to chat during the drives, although the breathtaking surroundings left us speechless at times). Given is an excellent tracker and we had wonderful wildlife encounters. We appreciated his respect for the animals and the environment, we never had the feeling that we were “chasing” the animals and the Green Fire guides don’t drive off-road due to the risk of killing animals and harming the terrain, which was one of the reason we chose this lodge over others. Our stay at Green Fire lodge definitely made us want to go back and spend more time in the beautiful South African nature.

Situated in the Balule Nature Reserve, Muweti Bush Lodge offers the opportunity for wildlife encounters at its waterhole, where elephants and other game come to drink. The staff made us feel like family. Audrey, Neil, Harduus, everyone was extremely friendly and took excellent care. The food was delicious. Many elephants visited the waterhole during our stay. The game drives are thrilling and the guides very knowledgeable.

Naledi Lodges lies within the Balule Game Reserve and is located 25 km from Hoedspruit. It boasts panoramic views of the African savannah and features an outdoor swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Naledi is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. The level of quality service was extremely high. They always anticipated my every need and made sure that I did everything that I had set to do there. The facilities were all very thought out, so that you can maximize your experience at the reserve. The room was superb! The animals get really close to the hotel! The game drives, especially the knowledge of the guides (Oupa and Excellent), their spirit, it was truly amazing. I definitely recommend.

Pondoro is set on the banks of the Olifants River inside the 50 000 ha Balule Private Game Reserve inside the Greater Kruger National Park (Game drive traverse 30 000 acres). Friendliness of the staff is exceptional and their cuisine is fantastic. Morning and evening game drives are very well organized and ranger & tracker were very professional. Simply an amazing experience!
