The Olive Thrush Cottage is on a small-holding at the edge of town and offering views of a freshwater dam with lots of bird life.
The Cottage is peaceful and tranquil, a few minutes’ walk from the beautiful Karoo countryside, yet only a 10-minute walk from the shops and restaurants in Prince Albert.
The cottage is beautifully decorated with an open-plan living are and kitchen. Indoor fireplace (starter pack of wood provided). Free WIFI.
The bedroom has air conditioning, mosquito nets and mosquito screens on the windows to protect you from some flying visitors, if they do make an appearance. There is also an electric blanket to keep the cold Karoo nights at bay.
It sleeps two to four people comfortably in one bedroom and has one bathroom. Ideal for a family of 4. The bedroom has one extra length king-sized bed, and two extra length single beds. There is also a sleeper couch in the living room. The bathroom has a large shower and soft fluffy towels are provided. The more adventurous have the option to a refreshing outside shower, under the stars, which is great for those hot summer evenings.
There is safe off-street parking available.

The Olive Thrush Cottage is situated in the heart of Prince Albert, one of the most picturesque villages in South Africa. Prince Albert is located at the foot of the Swartberg mountains in the Karoo and offers something for everybody, from olive and cheese tastings to stargazing, hiking, mountain bike trails, 4 x 4 routes, guided walks, yoga classes, cooking lessons at a local cookery school, live performances at The Showroom Theatre, farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and exploring historical sites.
Restaurants that we recommend to our guests include Karoo Kombuis, The Real Food Company, The Rude Chef, Swartberg Hotel’s Victoria Room, Lah-di-dah Farm Stall and the Bush Pub. Activities that we can recommend are Astro Tours, The Story Weaver, Striking Metal, Avoova, Renu-Karoo Indigenous Nursery, The Showroom Theatre. Shops in the town include: The Olde Shoppe, Handmade Karoo Handgemaak, Kredouw Fijnhuis and Kredouw Olive Estate, Prince of Africa Crafts, Louis Botha Photography, The Real Food Company Deli. Major attractions in our area are the Swartberg pass, Cango Caves, Rust en Vrede Waterfall, Ostrich riding in Oudtshoorn, De Rust, Meiringspoort and Weltevrede Fig Farm.
