We decided that life was too short to delay the pursuit of our dream, so we found a 1.3 hectare smallholding on the top of a hill on a peninsula, where the sun both rises and sets over the ocean. And we named it The Bee's Knees. We packed up our pets and a few sentimental items, and spent the next year living happily in a little cabin on the site, while we built our dream! With sea views, mountain views and huge open skies, it's impossible not to feel your soul restoring. We chose the location, not only for it's unique beauty and tranquility but also because Cape Town and the Swartland wine lands are so accessible. Then we decided that such a special spot needs to be shared, so we created The Lazy Daisies and we are really enjoying welcoming others to our piece of paradise!
We love being creative - from transforming spaces, painting canvasses, and gardening - to preparing delicious feasts! We're explorers, and lovers of fine dining and good wines, which is why we love the West Coast. We have three Labradors and an African Wild cat, and that makes us a crazy family of 6! Our son is currently roaming the planet, as a mixologist, passionate about creating molecular cocktails!
Britannica Heights is located on the top of the hill on the peninsula at St Helena Bay - the only place in South Africa where one can see the sun rise over the ocean and set over the ocean. Made up of smallholdings, it is very peaceful and private. Homes nestle in the natural fynbos, which bursts into life during the winter, producing our famous displays of wild daisies and other desert flowers. The properties are not permitted to wall or fence their boundaries, allowing the wildlife of antelope, hare, tortoise, porcupine, mongoose and guinea-fowl to roam freely. Birds are abundant, and the stunningly colourful sun-birds are my favourite!
