The owners, Dawie Human and Henning de Bruin are passionate about making a difference in saving the environment that we live in and their efforts can be seen in every aspect of the business, the indigenous gardens, rain tanks, vegetable gardens and environmentally friendly home, architecturally designed by one of Bloemfontein’s top architect practices – Smit Architects. The owners have been inspired to plant and only indigenous plants, and to do things as organically as possible. This stretches to the accommodation, slow food, bath products and supplies.
The buildings on the property used to be unsightly barns that are now beautiful architectural structures blending harmoniously into the Free State landscape. Energy saving devices and solar geysers where installed to reduce the carbon footprint.
The interior of the main building reflects the owners’ love for art, antiques and travel. The décor is a blend of old and new, African, Egyptian, Chinese, Vietnamese and wherever their travels take them. All this creates an interesting environment with a chic, yet well lived in, and comfortable feel.
