We arrived in Witsand in March 2016 whilst on holiday from Zimbabwe, we stayed over for one night on our way to Cape Town , and just loved this special village so much that we ended up buying the Barry's Holiday Accommodation business and have been living in Witsand now since October 2016 - we hope you will enjoy your time in Witsand as much.
Owen grew up in Zimbabwe, and farmed citrus, cattle and maize there, until we moved to Witsand. Owen has four children, some in SA and some in Zimbabwe and three grandchildren.
He is enjoying his career change from farming to tourism! and as well as being a keen cyclist - he also learnt to kite surf at 60 years young!!
Owen married Helen in 2012. She was born in the UK and after studying at the Royal Agricultural University in the UK, she spent many years travelling the globe, working in tourism /farming or volunteering to fund these travels.
We both enjoy to travel and meeting new people - and look forward to welcoming you to Witsand.

Witsand is a very small, safe, beautiful and friendly village, located on the Indian Ocean and at the mouth of the Breede River - it has whales visiting to have calves during June- end of September.
Its also a new destination for kite surfing/boarding as the lagoon offers a safe place. during December to May you will find many international kite surfers following the wind to Witsand.
There are also some scenic river walks and beach walks for those that like to hike in nature and watch birds, picnic al fresco and dip in the waters to cool off.
Traditionally, Witsand was well known for its fishing, even now many fisherman spend time here fishing for Kob up the river or deep sea fishing on the ocean.
Its possible to arrange boat trips up the river, where there are three Bush Pubs along the other side of the river - serving cold beer and delicious pizza's.
Witsand has 3 bars/restaurants, 2 small shops, a coffee shop/market in the old wool shed and an activity centre where one can hire SUB"s etc.
