During 2019, Charles established the first 'Charlie’s Spot' in Norwood, Johannesburg which, from the onset, proved to be popular with guests requiring accommodation that is comfortable, safe and secure in a homely atmosphere and in close proximity to shops, malls and restaurants. Says Charles: ‘As I have been working my entire life, the passive life of retirement seemed like the opposite of freedom. I then started a venture in hospitality, offering homely and sophisticated overnight accommodation. I set up 'Charlie's Spot' in Norwood, ideally located off Grant Avenue, known for its many restaurants, fast food outlets and various shopping options. A valuable factor has become meeting fascinating people from all over South Africa and the world and in doing so, have become friends with many of our guests.’
