Hillcrest Bed & Breakfast is a bed-and-breakfast in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, which offers lodging services including canopy beds, fireplaces and libraries. We're a family-owned-and-operated with a staff that is very knowledgeable of the local history.
Matt was born and raised in Jim Thorpe and grew up hiking and biking the local trails. He manages several properties in Jim Thorpe and enjoys meeting and greeting guests.
As its name implies Hillcrest sits on the edge of the Mt. Pisgah plane. Mr. Pisgah rises behind Hillcrest and make a great hike. The southern anthracite vein in Pennsylvania starts in this mountain and runs 80 miles to Harrisburg, PA. To the front of Hillcrest lies the original bed of the Switchback Railroad, the first railroad in America. Beyond the old railroad bed and 300 feet down is the Lehigh River. In view from each bedroom is the former East Mauch Chunk which merged with Mauch Chunk (Pronounced: Mock Chunk) in 1954 to become the Borough of Jim Thorpe. Hillcrest is surrounded 360 degrees by mountains. If you live somewhere flat ... this is exotica.
