The building completed at the end of 2019, invites its first guests since 2020!
Misia Chata is a highlander's cottage in the very center of Zakopane with its own individual style. The owners tried to convey their love for the architecture and culture of the region through it. A hand-painted cabinet with ornaments inspired by folk patterns, a highlander's chest straight from the owner's grandfather, hand-cut felt accessories, that's all and not only we give to our guests. The cabinet has a bookcase with carefully selected books about topics related with Tatra Mountains and Zakopane, and the walls are decorated with paintings with a brown bear (diminutively Miś - as in Misia Chata!) or a copy of a map of Zakopane from 1890. If you are wondering how to pronounce Misia Chata - it's [ˈmʲĩɕa ˈxata] in IPA.
We are a family of Zakopane residents who have always lived here. This does not mean, however, that we do not lean out of Podhale - we travel quite frequently, so we perfectly understand the needs of our guests.
We are happy to talk about the history of Zakopane, hiking (and running!) around the Tatras, or we can tell anecdotes related to the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch. Or maybe you are interested in what Zakopane looks like from the perspective of a resident? Just ask!
The chalet is located in a quiet area, only 10 minutes (on foot!) from Krupówki, i.e. the very center of Zakopane. The windows overlook the river, the garden, and - main attraction - Giewont Mt. - the symbol of Zakopane. It is an ideal location not only for people who like active rest (close distance from the Aqua Park, ski routes in Gubałówka or Szymoszkowa), but also for those who want to spend time on walks exploring the cultural heritage of Zakopane (Old Church, Cemetery of Distinguished at Pęksowy Brzyzek, Tatra Museum, historical Kościeliska street). All this in the immediate area, without necessity to use a car!
