The establishment of the meditation and rest center for the duchess of alumni dates back to 1897. His Excellency Archbishop Wincenty Teofil Chrosciak Popiel bought a six-hectare plot and built a house for clerics and lecturers. The building's architect is Józef Pius Dziekoński.
"Popiel's Palace" was not destroyed during the first or the second world war.
After the war in 1945, due to the lack of rooms for the High School in Konstancin Jeziorna, the church authorities lent a home for the school for free. After the construction of its own premises, the school did not release the building, and in 1960 by the decision of the state administration the property was taken over by the Ministry of Education.
In 1990, "House of Popiel" was returned to the Archdiocese of Warsaw. The historic building of the Popiel Palace was renovated and an auxiliary building was added, which is to serve as a dining room in the future.
From 2018, it began to function as a Retreat and Holiday House of the Archdiocese of Warsaw.
