Would you like to get disconnected from the stresses of daily life while getting reconnected with nature in the cool mountains only 90 minutes from Panama City? Tower Studio in the Treetops in Altos del Maria is the right place! Here you can walk to the Maria River in 3 minutes and then hike along a 6km riverside trail, enjoying a swim in one of numerous mountain river pools along the way. From your private breakfast terrace you can gaze up at Cerro Picacho and contemplate climbing it. Listen to and spot the toucans and occasional monkey from the comfort of a hammock on your private mosaic patio. Privacy and independence are important features in this large studio apartment with garden views from the dining room. At 450m elevation there is no need for heat or air conditioning : temperatures are between 21-28C all year. Altos del Maria is a special place and Tower Studio in the Treetops makes it possible for you and a companion to experience this little corner of paradise for yourselves.
Michel and I have lived, studied, worked and traveled on five continents. We speak English, French and Spanish and have family on two continents. In addition to travel, we like to hike, swim, practice yoga, play bridge and listen to opera. Retired in Panama since 2014, we enjoy interacting with people from all over the world. We love seeing how quickly our guests start to relax in this special mountain environment. It is so much fun to introduce new people to Tower Studio in the Treetops and Altos del Maria. We look forward to welcoming YOU!
Cerro Picacho towers majestically over Altos del Maria. The 360 degree views from the top are well worth the climb! The Maria River cuts its way between this 7,000 hectare private residential development, boasting a 6km round trip concrete trail, with waterfalls and swimming holes at each end and along the way. You can cross the Continental Divide by following the Biodiversity Trail at Valle Bonito. Be sure to take the breathtaking paved back road through the mountains to El Valle de Anton on a day trip where you can visit the local market for organic produce and artisan souvenirs and choose from a host of restaurants for every budget. Upon request we can set up horseback riding through remote trails only known to locals. You can also explore one of the native villages where the local folks reside. These are not found in any guidebook! These suggestions are only a start! Beware! Some guests never leave the property on a first visit because they are perfectly content to remain in their tower studio in the treetops the entire time!
