Convenience is a key feature for this well-appointed one-level modern apartment. It's fully equipped and perfect for one or two couples looking for a golfing holiday or a relaxing stay out of the hustle of big cities. It's also perfect for international travellers who want a quiet stop before either starting their tour or finishing. Why stay near the noisy airport when you can have a quiet night before taking that long journey home?
Waiting for you at the end of the street, only 250 metres away, is tranquil Clarks Beach - enjoy the sunrises, breath-stopping sunsets, birds, boats, and the occasional other walker.
The apartment adjoins a two-storey home with quiet residents. There is no transfer of noise - sound-proofing is excellent and there's also a firewall between the two parts of the building.
The room with the queen bed has an ensuite. The bigger bedroom, with two king single beds, can access the bathroom and separate toilet from the hall.
Your location is super-convenient. (See the Neighbourhood description below). Within walking distance are four eating options. However, if you want to dine in, the apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen.
I delight in travel and meeting new people. I manage this property for my friend Karel as well as two units in my own nearby beachside home. (My guests kindly rate me 9.8/10 as a host.) I live only minutes away so can be with you quickly if you need help with anything.
I recently retired from a 30+ year career as an international business educator and professional speaker, which gives me more time to follow my passion for writing. My first eight books were non-fiction and I'm now producing historical fiction. I love the way a well-written story brings history to life. I'm also very involved with the awesome local community of Clarks Beach & Waiau Pa – currently Chair of the local Residents’ Association.
Sport includes crewing with the Classic Yacht Association in Auckland and daily walks for fitness. I have very basic French and love visiting France - could live there very easily! Books - can't live without them! and I also enjoy an eclectic range of music.
Family - any 'spare' minutes are spent with my large family of 6 children and 17 grandchildren. I love hanging out with them and then peace and quiet when we part company is equally delicious :-)
Clarks Beach is a beautiful, quiet seaside community on the shores of the Manukau Harbour. It is ideally suited for leisurely holidaying, fishing, boating, golfing, bowling, beach walks plus more.
You'll feel like 100 kms from anywhere, but you can get here from either the airport or Auckland city in under an hour (outside of high traffic peak time). Give yourself a treat - get out of the city and enjoy the peace, friendliness and small beachside community vibe.
You'll be in walking distance to one of New Zealand's Top 10 country golf courses, as voted by Metro Magazine.
This part of the southern border of Auckland city is a little-known region and well-worth exploring. At the end of the Awhitu Peninsula (across the water) is the Manukau Heads lighthouse, with displays telling the story of New Zealand's worst maritime disaster, the wreck of the Orpheus as she endeavoured to cross the Manukau Harbour bar in 1863. The Glenbrook Vintage Rail is a popular weekend excursion. On the other side of the Southern Motorway you've got the Hunua Ranges for great hiking, Clevedon Market on Sundays, and within a short drive you're at the East Coast. And this is just for starts!
