Historic, traditional ryokan buildings situated in a hidden area with mountain and river views!
Welcome to our peaceful guesthouse in the hills of Akiu, Sendai.
Nestled beside the Natori River, our property offers private rooms in a traditional Japanese setting. It’s a perfect escape for those seeking nature, relaxation, and a slower pace of life.
We’re proud to be pet-friendly! Dogs are welcome here, and we even have friendly resident dogs who love to greet guests. Many solo travelers come just to spend time with them.
Whether you're camping riverside or staying in one of our cozy rooms, you'll enjoy the sounds of nature, beautiful views, and a warm, local atmosphere. Please note that our guesthouse is surrounded by nature. There is no air conditioning, and during warmer months, you may encounter insects such as moths or beetles. This is part of the charm of staying close to the forest—an experience of living with nature, not apart from it.
We don’t provide meals, so guests are welcome to bring their own food or explore local dining spots. Basic items like toothbrushes are not included, so please bring what you need for a simple, self-guided stay.
Hi, I'm the owner of Konosu Onsen Guesthouse and AkiuCanada Camp. I’ve lived in the Akiu area for many years, and I love sharing the peaceful nature and slow rhythm of life here with others.
Hosting gives me the chance to meet people from all over and help them relax, reflect, and reconnect—with nature, with their pets, or just with themselves.
Akiu is a peaceful hot spring village on the edge of Sendai, known for its beautiful nature, friendly locals, and relaxing atmosphere. Guests can enjoy scenic walks, forest trails, and river views right outside the guesthouse.
Nearby sights include the Akiu Great Falls, the charming Kaleidoscope Museum, the legendary Saichi deli (famous for its tofu and ohagi), and the historic Nikka Whisky distillery. A little farther out, the mountain temple Yamadera offers breathtaking views and a spiritual experience.
There are a number of local restaurants and cafés to discover. You can check online maps—or just ask Steve (that’s me!) for recommendations.
