Situato nel Salento centro-orientale, Martano è il comune più popoloso della Grecìa Salentina, area ellenofona in cui si parla, in particolare fino al secolo scorso, un'antica lingua di origine greca: Martano dista da Lecce circa 20 km. La città di Otranto, invece, è a circa 18 km. Il mare più vicino a Martano dove poter fare i bagni durante le vacanze è Torre Sant`Andrea, distante appena 14 chilometri. Camminando tra le strade del paese si possono ammirare le diverse chiese decorate da artisti che operarono tra Seicento e Settecento periodo in cui esplose l’arte barocca. Numerosi i palazzi signorili caratterizzati da splendidi cortili o balconi decorati sorti nel corso dei secoli che regalano al visitatore numerose sorprese, è “città dell’Aloe” per l’importante sviluppo della produzione della pianta nel territorio.
