Within the Clayfingers Pottery premises, we have built 4 beautiful cottages for our guests to stay. Guests can also join our Pottery classes and get involved with pottery, as well as sculpting, sketching or painting. Our guests have all had extraordinarily creative experiences by staying with us.
Our studio is located in what was once a traditional 1950’s brick and tile factory which is situated in a quiet village in Kerala, India. The 15,000 sq ft multidisciplinary studio space is where many contemporary potters, artists, technicians and enthusiasts come together to create and mould earth back to life.
The property is surrounded by a wonderful garden with a wide variety of plants and trees that we have nurtured personally for over eight years. We only uses natural farm-based fertilizers . Our cattle are all rare breeds of dwarf cow, such as the Vechur and the Kasaragod Kullan.
Clayfingers Pottery and Clayfingers Art Cottages was founded by Mr.Suresh Subramanian- Advertising Photographer & Mrs. Hasseena Suresh- Sculptor.
Pottery, for us, is a very rewarding experience in both a creative and spiritual sense. To take a lump of clay into our hands and give it a form, which in turn gives it a new life, is a great accomplishment. Working with clay allows us to express our emotions, experiences and creativity.
We are determined to push the boundaries of clay as well as people’s perceptions towards this material & surprise you with the quality & style in which earth can be recreated.
We have a river flowing through very next to our property. Guests can go fishing, cycling, trekking through the villages- there are several temples around to visit. Our village people are very welcoming and would love to chat. The famous Thrissur Pooram Temple is just 12 kms and Aarattupuzha temple is hardly 2 kms away from us. Many other culturally significant and eventful temples and are within 10 kms of the property.
