Nestled in the scenic Cooley Mountains on Ireland's Ancient East, this historic four-bedroom Céilí House dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Once a traditional Irish dancing hall, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a cosy retreat, showcasing original stonework, inviting indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and a beautiful garden. Blending the charm of original features with modern renovations, this is the perfect place to unwind and reconnect after a day of exploration. The house features three comfortable double bedrooms and one single bedroom, providing ample space for families or groups. The full sitting room includes a fireplace, TV, and WiFi, and can accommodate two additional guests for sleeping if needed—just let us know in advance. A fully equipped kitchen offers everything you need to cook and enjoy meals together, while two bathrooms ensure convenience: one with a bath, shower, and toilet, and the other with a shower and toilet. Additional amenities include a mud room with an extra toilet, washing machine, and tumble dryer—perfect for extended stays or after outdoor adventures. Outside, enjoy a lovely lounging area with outdoor seating, a fireplace, and a barbecue—ideal for relaxing evenings under the stars. Surrounded by natural beauty and rich cultural experiences, you’ll be just a short stroll from the stunning Carlingford Lough Greenway—perfect for walking or cycling with breathtaking views. The vibrant village of Carlingford is only 10 minutes away, offering historic charm, lively pubs, and unforgettable experiences like the Carlingford Hot Box sauna or the famous Oyster Farm Tour. Golf lovers will appreciate the nearby Greencore Golf Club, and Warrenpoint is just across the water. Omeath village is only 5 minutes down the road, providing convenient access to local shops, cafes, and a warm Irish welcome.
Born in the 1970s and now rooted in the picturesque village of Omeath, Ireland, I spend my days growing food and exploring the rich tapestry of local life. My loyal dog, Milis, is always by my side—whether we’re out walking the scenic trails or relaxing at home. When I’m not tending to the garden or at the gym, you’ll find me savoring good coffee, experimenting in the kitchen, or discovering new food scenes. I have a passion for old cottages and a deep appreciation for history, live music, and the vibrant local culture that surrounds me. The outdoors is my playground, and I never tire of long walks or sharing a glass of wine with friends. One day, I hope to cross Japan off my bucket list and immerse myself in its unique blend of tradition and innovation. Until then, I’m content enjoying the simple pleasures and adventures that life in Omeath has to offer.
Centrally located between two capital cities, you’re just an hour from both Dublin and Belfast—ideal for day trips or onward travel. Whether you’re drawn by history, nature, or simply seeking a peaceful escape with a story to tell, this mountain haven offers an unforgettable stay steeped in tradition, beauty, and Irish charm.
