Cul Cottage is a beautifully restored 200 year old Irish cottage. The cottage is a unique reminder of times past with all the comfort of modern day living. The cottage was carefully restored to maintain many of its original features inclusive of the rough stone walls, the old earthenware sink, the dresser and rack seating.. The cottage caters for four people with two upstairs bedrooms, bedroom 1 has a double bed and bedroom two has two single beds. Downstairs the is an open plan living/dining room with turf burning stove, a small fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom inclusive of shower. The cottage is built of stone which lends it to be very cosy, there are electric radiators in the bedrooms and a turf/solid fuel burning stove in the living room (Starter fuel provided) There is a lovely peaceful back garden with a Valentia slate seat looking out over Dingle bay.
Cul cottage is owned by the Lynch family and run by Gerard and Derarca who both work as Nurses in the local area. The cottage has been in the Lynch family for many generations and was the family home of Gerard's mother Ellie who was one of a family of seven, many of her siblings having emigrated to England and the United States during poorer times in Ireland.
Come on in and discover a place where ocean, landscape and people meet in a symphony of natural beauty and shared experience along The Wild Atlantic Way… welcome to Valentia Island. Valentia Island is one of Ireland's most westerly points. It lies off the Iveragh Peninsula in the southwest of County Kerry. It is linked to the mainland by the Maurice O'Neill Memorial Bridge at Portmagee and by a car ferry from Renard Point near Caherciveen from April to October. Cul Cottage is situated at the back of the Island in a tranquil setting and an area of breath-taking scenery over looking Dingle Bay and the Blasket Islands on one side and Valentia harbour on the other. Close by you can view / visit (May to September)The Skellig rocks, an old Monastic settlement, wild life sanctuary and set of the star ward movie The Force Awakens. The Island itself is small comprising of about 21 square miles, there are two villages, Chapeltown and Knightstown where you can enjoy some Irish music and a pint of Guinness with some locally caught fish in one of the local pubs. Valentis is a Cycling/walker/nature enthusiasts paradise with an abundance of wild flowers and great scenery
