This cozy wood and stone cabin is located at the top of a mountain in a small Mayan village. The cabin overlooks the mountains and is surrounded by nature and tranquility. We are a 30 minute drive from the village of Lanquin (on a dirt road in very poor condition) and then a 200 meter walk on a rocky and sometimes very muddy and slippery mountain path. If you are an adventurous nature lover and want to wake up in the clouds to an epic view, then this place is for you!!
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENT: There is a queen bed on the 1st level and a small loft right above that has 2 single beds. The access to the loft is via a ladder, so it's not recommended for people who are not comfortable with this. The cabin is perfect for 2 people and fits 4 people comfortably (as long as you're okay to share bedroom access).
ACCESS: As we are located in a remote area, there is limited public transport from Lanquin (30 min away) and Semuc Champey (45 min away). If you are coming with your own vehicle, you MUST have a 4x4 (with high clearance) in order to arrive. Parking is available 200 meters from the property and from there it's a 5-10 minute walk (there is no road access to the cabin!) If you don't have a 4x4, we can arrange a transport for you for Q125/trip for Lanquin and Q150/trip for Semuc Champey (prices for 2 people).
MEALS: There are no restaurants around so you may either cook for yourselves or we can provide meals. A menu will be sent upon booking.
We will send you a welcome message with more important information upon your booking.
We are a French/American couple who fell in love with this region of Guatemala. We built our house in the clouds and want to share a similar experience with others by renting a small cabin on our property. We love the outdoors and do a lot of hiking and biking in the region.
We will be around during your visit and would love to help your stay be memorable! We can help organize travel plans within Guatemala and arrange trips to Semuc Champey as well as activities such as hiking, biking, chocolate making, caving, rafting, river tubing and cultural immersion experiences.
We are located at the top of a mountain in an indigenous Q'qechi Maya village where many people don't speak Spanish. Everyone knows us, is very friendly and the area is safe to walk around. There are so many beautiful hikes you can take around the area, but most of the hikes are difficult (very steep and rocky).
If you want to experience the culture, we can arrange a lunch with our neighbors inside their homes and taste the local cuisine (their specialty is "Kaq'ik" - a delicious spicy chicken broth served with fresh tortillas).
We are 7-8 hours from Guatemala City and can arrange airport shuttles. We can also help you book shuttles to/from Antigua, Panajachel, Flores and Rio Dulce.
