My name is Anick Marie. I was born, a few years ago, on this island "that rocks in the moving tropical sun the warm and blue waves of the Caribbean Sea" (excerpt from poem L’île lointaine (The Distant Island) by Daniel THALY). There was a time when I knew every nook and cranny of it, thanks to snorkeling and hiking. Our archipelago lends itself to these activities which relieved me of my duties as Inspector of National Education.
In Guadeloupe, the distances are short, but the journeys can be tiring. One day, on my way home after a day's work spent on the road, I fell asleep in the middle of town. When I snapped out of my doze, I was two blocks away from my last vision. Fortunately, there was no damage: The parallelism of my automatic car was well done and it did not deviate from the straight line. After the fear, my reaction was to urgently find accommodation not far from my office AND in the center of my area of intervention, that is to say the whole archipelago.
I fell in love with this ideally located haven of peace and I became attached to it.
Today, I am retired and I live again by the sea, because I have a dog who loves to chase after crabs. He would mope in an apartment. So I don't really need it anymore.
But I admit that I find it difficult to part with it, because for me it is still more than a place to sleep after a cultural evening or an outing on Basse-Terre. Sharing it with others allows me to maintain and occupy it from time to time.
Moudong is an island of tranquility close to the local economic lung, major roads and many restaurants and shops. It's appreciated.
On foot 5-10 minutes depending on your walking pace:
Small shops: bakery, fishmonger, supermarket, delicatessen, wine bar, restaurants, tobacconist, laundry, hairdresser, shoemaker.
Concert and event space
Sporting events at the weekend (between the 2 roundabouts),
Clear waters clinic
By car :
Airport, 15 mins
Downtown Pointe-à-Pitre, 7 min
The largest shopping center on the island (Destreland), 5 mins.
The area is well served by public transport. But if you have rented a car, you can more easily discover the island and its many attractions. The central position of the apartment makes it possible to avoid excessive distances. You will be able to appreciate a part of our culture by listening to our "tanbouyé" and other guides, pedestrian street in Pointe-à-Pitre, every Saturday morning.
At certain times, portions of the main roads are bottled up, but you quickly learn to avoid them.
