Our lovely family room was converted in 2018 from 3 former stables behind our home. It retains some of the original features, such as the beams which the horses used to nibble on! The room features a Superking bed which can be converted into 2 singles on request, and a sofabed which is a 'small double' size. The shower room is small but beautifully fitted, with a large shower cubicle. There is a small kitchenette area with kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave oven. Included in our price is a continental breakfast which is placed in the room prior to arrival so you can serve yourselves at leisure. We're not fully self-catering - there is no washing up sink nor full cooking facilities - so we take your washing up away when you're ready. The television offers Netflix and other streaming services, and there is of course free WiFi.
In good weather there is a decking area next to the room, with garden furniture which guests are very welcome to use.
There is ample parking space available at the front of our property, and access to the room is through our garden. We're also dog friendly, for a small additional charge.
We're Kevin and Claire Green, along with our teenage daughter Alexis and our friendly but slightly loopy lurcher-cross Barney, and we've been hosting guests since 2019. Kev works from home and Claire has a part-time job at a local physiotherapy clinic, which allows (mostly!) plenty of flexibility to run our B&B. We love meeting our guests, who have visited from all over the world and for a multitude of different reasons. Our aim is to provide a comfortable home-from-home in our lovely village, and we hope you'll enjoy a great stay with us!
Harby is a very attractive village in the Vale of Belvoir, on the border of Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire. The area is very popular for walking and cycling, and we're just one of a number of lovely villages, most of which have great and dog-friendly pubs! The Grantham Canal runs through the village - we're roughly halfway along its route from Nottingham to Grantham, and the whole length (with one or two short diversions) can be walked on its towpath. Within a few miles are the three main Stilton Cheese producing villages of Cropwell Bishop, Long Clawson and Colston Bassett, and of course our local town is Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies. We're just a couple of miles from the parachuting of Langar Skydive, and about 6 miles away is the beautiful Belvoir Castle. Nottingham is about 30 minutes' drive away, and Leicester around 45 minutes, with all the city activities they offer.
