A beautiful, recent conversion of a previous stable block with a few quirky features. The Old Stables benefits from a semi-rural setting, within easy reach of Heathfield town centre, and is within a privately gated area. The shared patio and lovely garden are for the use of guests, as is the BBQ. The Old Stables offers the perfect place to stay for a last minute get-away or for a longer stay to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
Ann has been hosting now for over 10 years and loves welcoming new and returning guests to this beautiful part of the country.
There are numerous public footpaths within easy reach of the property for those who like walking. The Ashdown Forest is a short drive away, as are Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne and Brighton. Mainline stations for London and the coast are within a 10-15 minute drive and the journey to London takes about an hour (the service from Frant takes 55 minutes). There are several National Trust properties close by, including Batemans, Sissinghurst Castle, Scotney Castle, Bodiam Castle and Standen House.
The cottage is situated about a mile from Heathfield town centre. This is a small but well serviced town with a selection of supermarkets (Co-op, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco Express) as well as independent food shops (butcher, baker, greengrocer, Cucolo delicatessen). On Tuesdays Heathfield market also takes place where you can find fresh fish as well as a whole range of curiosities, vintage and antique items. It also holds an auction twice a month for anyone wanting to pick up an unusual bargain. In Heathfield you will also find the Heathfield Tavern for pub food, Heathes Turkish Dining, The Pink Cabbage and the Bay Tree Cafes (breakfast and lunches ), the Curry Inn and Heathfield Tandoori Indian restaurants, as well as a good selection of takeaways. Several country pubs are within a short drive from The Old Stables.
