An idyllic retreat set on the Northwestern edge of the Brecon Beacons in the hills, 3 miles outside the market town of Llandovery. A 300 year old dairy used to milk cows until 1950, it has been sympathetically converted into a cosy, 2 bedroom cottage, retaining many of the original features. The Old Milking Parlour is set on the courtyard of the original farm situated on a narrow lane and surrounded by fields, woodland and streams. It now forms part of our 2 acre small holding which is home to our 3 pigs, 4 Angora goats, many hens and ducks, our spaniel Bonnie and Blue and Belle our two cats. In the fields there are cows, sheep and horses and in the skies above red kites, buzzards and goshawks soar. We are in a dark skies area, making it the perfect place for star gazing. The Old Milking Parlour has outside space with table and chairs, a barbecue and fire pit and there are many picturesque walks surrounding the cottage. A perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We moved here from Hampshire in 2021 and have loved converting The Old Milking Parlour. We really enjoy the peace and tranquility, the scenery and wildlife as well as looking after our animals. We live in the farmhouse and enjoy meeting and welcoming people to our small holding.
There is so much to do nearby. The market town of Llandovery has many shops cafes and pubs as well as interesting shops a craft centre, museum and castle. It is on the Heart of Wales train line. Llandeilo is a few miles away, with boutique shops and Dresylin Estate with its ancient deer park and castle.
