The pod is in a quiet setting in the town of Alness close to the start of the North Coast 500. The town is less than a mile from the mouth of the river Averon and looks over the Cromarty Firth. The deep-water port of Invergordon is just three miles along the Firth. There is an 18-hole golf course a mile away from the Pod, two world-famous distilleries, Dalmore and Teanninich, and, for the more energetic, there are plenty of scenic walks including a two-and-a-half-mile trek up to Fyrish Monument where the views of Cromarty Firth and Ben Wyvis are spectacular. The town offers a variety of restaurants, cafes and take-aways, and several pubs on the High Street are only a ten-minute walk away. Alternatively, Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is a twenty-five-minute drive. Now a city, Inverness offers a wide variety of leisure activities from Jacobean cruises on Loch Ness, to ten-pin bowling, to soft-play facilities for children.
