Welcome to Thatch Close Cottages in South Herefordshire. Only 2 miles from the A40 yet very secluded and quiet. Cider Cottage, Bramble's Barn and Valley View are three beautiful 17th century holiday cottages that sleep between two and four guests each. Or Threshing Barn (two cottages which can be interlinked) can accommodate up to six people. Valley View is fully accessible, suitable for guests that use wheelchairs.
Dogs are very welcome too. Enjoy walks straight from the door and explore the 12 acres of surrounding, tranquil countryside that we have been busy rewilding for over 30 years. Idyllically located in peaceful countryside, some within a recognised Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty (AONB), Thatch Close Cottages are a real rural retreat.
We were awarded Gold Standard by the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust for our work in re-wilding.
Also an EU award for accessibility.
The Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat are less than 5 miles away, and Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are both nearby. So you'll find lots of places to visit and adventures just waiting for you.
Whether you are looking for a peaceful escape for 2 or are planning a holiday for family and friends, we hope to see you soon!
We'll be here to greet you on arrival, show you around, introduce you to a few practicalities, then we'll leave you to relax.
You'll find a tray of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread and butter and delicious local biscuits in your cottage to help you settle in. So you can relax with a nice hot cuppa and a snack after your journey.
We are Edward and Marian - both ex teachers and ex VSO. We moved to South Herefordshire to familiar territory and to raise our two children in an idyllic rural environment. Those two children are all grown up now with children of their own. Whilst they were young, we ran a small-holding here, making our own sausages and bacon, which helped when Marian started Thatch Close Bed & Breakfast (Thatch Close Cottages’ forerunner).
We then converted the 17th century farm buildings into quality, accessible and dog-friendly holiday cottages. We love to welcome guests and their families (including the four-legged members) to enjoy our rural Herefordshire haven and look forward to welcoming you soon.
An accessible BBQ and Pizza Oven patio has just been added.
The location is ideal for exploring not only the village of Llangrove and the Wye Valley, but also the Forest of Dean and Wales. You’ll be surrounded by breath-taking scenery and rural tranquillity, Thatch Close Cottages is hard to beat!
