Sunshine Cottage is something a little bit special! A stunning newly renovated detached property located just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the vibrant and historic market town of Helmsley, in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
With meticulous attention to detail the property sleeps 6 guests across three beautifully appointed and spacious bedrooms. With a large open plan kitchen, dining and living space which floods with natural light from the expanse of glass doors, which open out onto the lovely garden and patio area. There is also an additional snug, a useful utility room and downstairs washroom.
Ample off-street parking is available, and dogs are welcome to join you for your stay.

Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically – Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. The National Birds of Prey Centre can also be found in Helmsley, a very popular attraction and worth a visit.
There are also many other historical attractions nearby including the majestic Castle Howard, the ecclesiastical ruins of Rievaulx Abbey and Byland Abbey and a castle and he National Birds of Prey Centre in Helmsley.
Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep – indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley – and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. The North Yorkshire Coast is easily accessible to include Scarborough, Whitby, robin hoods bay, Bridlington and Stathes, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes’ drive.
From Helmsley you can explore both The Howardian Hills and the neighbouring North York Moors National Park stretching across the Whitby and the coast. Excellent walking routes are on offer for seasoned ramblers and those looking for a more sedate meander. It’s also the perfect place for cycling with miles upon miles of climbs and descents awaiting your discovery, with jaw-dropping views to make the climbs worth the burn!
Being just 24 miles north of the City of York you are perfectly placed to head into the city, York is a city brimming with history and culture. Take a walk along the castle walls and marvel at the view below, or head to York Minster for some truly jaw dropping architecture and follow that with a wander...
