Myself and wife Kath have owned Poppy Cottage since 2006 but we have only just decided to try hosting ourselves. Kath spent her childhood in Whitby and we both love returning to soak up the gorgeous coastline and unique, quirky atmosphere of the town. Our holiday cottage is in an ideal spot to pursue our favourite hobby of kayaking on the river where we encounter seals, herons, kingfishers and cormorants and wave at passing steam trains. Idyllic!

Poppy Cottage is perfectly situated within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park yet handy for the beaches, coastal walks and the town centre with its pretty harbour, quaint cobbled streets, quirky shops and wide variety of cafes and restaurants. Exploring Whitby Abbey, visiting the Dracula Experience, Whitby Museum and the Captain Cook Museum or hunting for fossils on the beach are just some of the activities ideal for families. A Sainsbury's and Aldi store are just a five-minute drive away or there is a Coop close to the Railway Station.
