Hen Ffermdy (Old Farmhouse) is nestled on a south facing hillside in a sheltered valley just 2 miles from the north coast of Pembrokeshire. The oldest part of the farmhouse dates back to the 1530s with additions through to the 1800s. When we were lucky enough to find it the farmhouse had been empty and untouched for nearly 50 years, there was not much left to save apart from the stone walls which are a metre thick in places. Restoring this lovely big house has been a labour of love and we are thrilled to be opening our doors to guests exploring Pembrokeshire and beyond. From barn owls to emperor dragonflies there is always something to spot out of the window or while walking around the footpaths in our slowly rewilding fields.
The house sits amongst the traditional stone built farm buildings and large millpond on 5 acres of land previously used for pasture which we are leaving to rewild and nurture our fledgling woodland.

We spent 3 years breathing life back into Hen Ffermdy, a traditional Pembrokeshire farmhouse. We have also loved building a new life in the country and now sincerely hope to welcome people that once upon a time could have been us looking for an escape from the stress and strain of a working life to breathe out and enjoy what time they have to spare.
Whether looking for insider knowledge of where and what to do in Pembrokeshire, especially our beloved north coast, or asking how you make the escape yourselves Sue and I would be delighted to welcome you here. Or, you can just relax in your own space and do your own thing.
I was born in Pembrokeshire but have lived all over the world since I was little and Sue originally from Scotland grew up in Oman. We both worked in London for 20 plus years before coming to Pembrokeshire in 2018 to renovate Hen Ffermdy. Between us we have had varied careers including travel, interiors and hospitality, so felt it like a natural move to bring all our experiences together in the creation of Hen Ffermdy Bed and Breakfast.
Outside of the 5 acre grounds Llangloffan Fen (SSSI) is within walking distance managed by the national trust.
The beautiful twin beaches of Aber Mawr and Aber Bach are within a couple of miles from Hen Ffermdy, perfect for surfing or swimming. If feeling energetic there is a enchanting walk down to the beaches through a National Trust managed ancient woodland which is filled with bluebells and wild garlic in spring and offers much needed shade in the summer.
One of the most stunning sections of all the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is nearby, it takes you from Aber Bach to Pwll Deri and then on to Strumble Head Lighthouse. There are seals to swim with in Summer, or birthing their pups in Autumn, birds to watch in any season, and the raw untouched beauty of the local coastline is breathtaking.
For a place in the middle of nowhere we are 20 minutes from anywhere, notably Newgale Beach, St Davids and Newport. The Sloop Inn and The Shed at Porthgain are 15 minutes drive and are firm local favourites.
