Rural Retreats was founded in 1985 with the aim of making the countryside more accessible for holidaymakers and giving them the best possible choice of holiday homes across the UK.

This converted 17th century stone barn with a private, enclosed garden is located half a mile up a private drive on a working arable farm near the village of Docklow. It offers plenty of country walks with stunning unspoilt views.

The nearest town, Leominster, which has a railway station, is 10 minutes away while also boasting an array of excellent shopping facilities. Leominster has a lovely historic centre with some fabulous antique shops.
Nearby Kington is the starting point for the Offa's Dyke Walking Trail. A small town with 2 butchers, excellent greengrocer (who also sells fish and game) and delicatessen.
Play golf at Kington, England’s highest golf course with stunning views over mid Wales. A great course, unique and challenging in many ways. The views after the first few holes are spectacular. Mind the sheep on the fairways! Or enjoy 18 holes at Leominster Golf Club, who also welcome visitors.
Nearby Pembridge on the Black and White village trail has a 16th century market place and the Chapel Gallery is well worth a look. The 15th century New Inn is a great pub. Walk down to the river where children can swim in the summer.
For foodies, the excellent Cider Barn restaurant is not to be missed; the renowned Stagg Inn is also a short drive; and the gastronomic Elizabethan town of Ludlow can be reached in around 25 minutes, renowned as a gastronomic centre with Food and Drink Festival and the Ludlow Farm Shop. Ludlow Castle is also a major historic attraction.
There are numerous festivals throughout the year including the world famous literary Hay Festival, Leominster Festival and Presteigne Music Festival.
Wander around the beautiful Berrington Hall, a fine house created by Henry Holland. Explore Hampton Court gardens and maze or Croft Castle, home of the Croft family for nearly 1000 years with many stories to uncover.
There are a host of other lovely homes and gardens to visit such as Hergest Gardens, Bryan’s ground, and Hereford Cathedral; Westonbury Mill Gardens, Hergest Croft Gardens, Hampton Court Castle and Bryan's Ground.
