Fair Winds is located in central Whitby a short 10 minute walk from the town centre. Here you will find an eclectic mix of cosy pubs, and the well renowned Magpie Cafe alongside many other local restaurants, cafes and quality fish and chip shops. Continue along Pier road and you will find West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts and has boasted a blue flag status passing the amusements as you go. Back into Town the swing bridge takes you over to the older part of Whitby on the East bank with the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary and the Abbey, passing one of the oldest fish smokers in England on the way. If kippers take your fancy then there's no better place. Local Whitby Jet shops are aplenty here to showcase this locally sourced commodity and some of the Jewelry on sale is breathtaking and a perfect souvenir to take home after your stay. The streets are home to lots of lovely boutique shops and at points throughout the year are home to annual events such as the Bram Stokers Film Festival, Steampunk and Gothic weekends which people attend from all over the World and certainly a spectacle not to be missed, the events draw on the towns rich history as the birthplace of the Dracula stories and the inspiration for Bram Stoker. Not forgetting that Whitby is the birthplace of Captain Cook and the memorial museum is a must for anyone interested in history. There are countless options for those interested in walking in the North York Moors National Park, as the clifftop walks along the coastline are part of the Cleveland Way, and the Lyke Wake Walk finishes in nearby Ravenscar. For the Train enthusiasts out there the line runs next to the property so you get to see these amazing trains up and close and is a true experience.
