We have been hosting guests in our village for about five years, starting when we lived in Lime Tree House. Guest comments included: John and Sue were great hosts and served us an amazing breakfast to order, with a full English plus cereal, yoghurt and homemade fruit salad. Highly recommend a stay here : We were met in a very welcoming and friendly manner. Tea and coffee etc in room. Bed was exceptionally comfy. Slept so well. Beautiful village. Breakfast was amazing!!!! Couldnt fault it! : They were a lovely couple with great local knowledge. Maps and places of interest were also readily available. The breakfast was enough to feed an army. The hostess trolley to keep the food warm was a nice touch too! : By far one of the most comfortable places Ive stayed at!
We hope you enjoy your stay in this lovely part of Suffolk. We recognise that some guests prefer privacy, and others like to chat. Please do ask us for any local information which will help you find your way around, and recommendations for local restaurants and attractions.
We live in Rattlesden, a peaceful Suffolk village with two pubs, one of which offers food, a lovely church and convenient shop with a post office. The neighbouring village of Woolpit has a bakery, tea shop, fish and chip shop and a Co-Op. You can also find good food at The Bull in Woolpit, The Shepherd and Dog in Onehouse and an Indian restaurant in Haughley. There are footpaths to explore the surrounding countryside and a 15 minute drive takes you to Bury St Edmunds with its shops, cafes, the Theatre Royal, cinema and Abbey Gardens. Historic Lavenham is also very close, with renowned restaurants and the National Trust Guildhall property in the centre.
Rattlesden is 10 minutes from the A14, with good routes to Stanstead airport, Felixstowe ferries, and London. Cambridge, Norwich and Colchester are within easy drive. Trains run from nearby Stowmarket to London Liverpool Street.
