Craigie Dhu is our pride and joy, we are situated in a beautiful setting in the grounds of Letham Grange. We’re surrounded by trees and lots of wildlife. If you look out your window in the morning you’ll see the red squirrels feeding and playing in the trees, if you’re lucky you’ll see our woodpecker on the tree, he’s so cute. 😍
It’s a 5 minute drive into town or a 45 minute walk through a lovely nature trail.
We’re a 10 minute drive from the most beautiful beach Lunan Bay and also a 10 minute drive from Arbroath harbour with an amazing scenic coastline. There’s restaurants and pubs situated around the area.
We’re also not too far from the beautiful Scottish glens, Glen Prosen & Glen Clova. Our guests enjoy the peace and tranquillity as well as the fresh Scottish air here at Craigie Dhu, many guests always tell me how well they’ve slept in our comfortable beds.
Guests can enjoy our continental breakfasts consisting of fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts, fresh juice, selection of cold meats, cheese, bread, rolls, croissants and cereal bars. Coffee and tea.
There’s also some beautiful walks around Letham Grange with lovely lakes and stunning views.
I love hosting here at Craigie Dhu and can truthfully say I have the best job in the World. I’ve met many wonderful people during my time hosting here and made some lovely friends. Les and I enjoy going out of our way to help our guests by driving them into town and picking them up so they can enjoy a drink or two without worrying about driving or finding taxis. We have electric bikes and scooters we rent out to guests as well. It’s the perfect place for a lovely bike ride around the Countryside.
There’s so much history nearby, infact there’s a Pictish museum just a couple of miles away in a quaint little village called St Vigians. In Arbroath there’s the Abbey and museum. This is where the famous Declaration of Independence for Scotland was signed in 1320.
Also Arbroath is famous for its “Arbroath Smokies”, and usually on a Friday you can smell the smoke from the smoke houses around the harbour, I love the smell of the Haddock being smoked. To the left of the Harbour about a mile along the Coast there’s the Cliffs and you can walk all the way along the top of the cliffs to Auchmithie, a beautiful little fishing village. Such a lovely walk and again stunning scenery.
