Originally built in 1933 and set in the small beachside village of Cliff (next to Valtos village), Uig, Cliff Cottage is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Recently renovated, Cliff Cottage is a fusion of new and old, retaining aspects of previous generational charm with modern daily living.
On the ground floor the property offers a kitchen, living/dining area, bathroom (with shower over bath) and first bedroom (king-size bed). The first floor comprises the second (king-size bed) and third (double-size bed) bedrooms, and a shower room. The exterior also offers plenty of seating and picnic benches to choose from.
Uig offers some of the finest scenery on Lewis, and our guests may be fortunate enough to view sheep, cattle, deer, sea hawks, sea eagles, corncrakes and cuckoos, all from our very own doorstep. During spring, the sounds of newborn lambs is commonly heard, whilst during late summer, the nearby stunning local machair offers a carpet of flowers attracting birds and insect life, with yellow flowers dominating at first which then fade into reds, whites and blues.
There are so many beautiful beaches on offer within the Uig district that you will be spoilt for choice! Cliff Beach (Camas na Clibhe in Gaelic), which is a quartz sand beach, is only a few minutes walk away and is a firm favourite with surfers. Reef Beach (Traigh na Beirghe in Gaelic), is a pristine, very long, white beach located on the opposite side of the peninsula, whilst Ardroil Beach (also known as Uig Sands) is a spectactular large area of white sand.
The area is described by many as having a 'special feeling' to it. So why not visit and live life in a different, slower pace, and relax, take a well earned break, and breathe in our fresh Atlantic coast air.
(NOTE. There is a further locked private bedroom on the first floor (family use only), to the rear of the third bedroom, but guests are assured it does not interfere in any way to the guest accommodation.)
